I follow a few lovely ladies on Instagram who use a lot of Korean Beauty and I have been so intrigued by some of the brands and products. They always seem to be so innovative, quirky, fun and the packaging is always unique. Early Picker is an online stockist of many top Korean beauty brands and I had the opportunity to pick out some products to try out. I went for a wide selection of products, from makeup to skincare (which the Korean's do so well).
As you can see I have quite the haul of products - isn't the packaging so great!
Aprilskin Pinky Piggy Carbonated Pack* | USD $28
Carbonated masks or 'bubble masks' are very popular in K-beauty and recently brands like e.l.f and Clinique have been offering their 'Westernised' version of them. The cute name is definitely a winner here. The mask has ingredients such as carbonated water and pink clay to unblock pores and make the skin feel soft and look more radiant. Bubble masks are like an instant refresher for the skin. This takes seconds to start bubbling on the skin and is generally ready to wipe off in about 5 minutes. It feels amazing and certainly makes the skin look brighter.
Aprilskin Pinkyclay Nose Pack*| USD $16
I love a good nose strip and this three-step system had me very intrigued. In the pack, you get three different products designed to be used one after the other. Step 1 is a toner to help open your pores which you apply to a cloth nose strip that has been warmed, then Step 2 is a more traditional peel off nose strip which helps to pull out blackheads and dirt, then Step 3 helps to close the pores and moisturise the area so no gunk gets back into your pores. I have not yet used this but I am really looking forward to trying it out.
Medicube Red Cleaning Pad* | USD $31
There are a lot of Medicube products available on Early Picked and they seem like a really amazing brand. I went for these cleansing pads which help to mildly remove makeup and impurities from the skin. I use these in place of a toner about 3-4 times a week as they are a bit more intensive than your average toner. You get 70 pre-soaked pads in this container and also nifty tweezers to help get them out. They work really well and feel very gentle and don't sting at all.
Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream* | USD $30
Dr. Jart is a brand I have heard a lot of positive things about and also have heard great things about this moisturiser. This moisturiser would be best suited for those with dry or mature skin, although says it will work on any skin type. I am looking forward to using this and love that it included time-release moisture over a period of around 26 hours. I am a big fan of this packaging too; I love the minimal, almost clinical feel to it and the fact that it comes with its own tube ringer pleases me a lot!
Now on to the makeup...
I have heard a bit about 3CE mostly from Shaaanxo and she has only had positive reviews about it so I really wanted to try out some of their makeup. This pan is quite small, but contains three different shades in them, in varying levels of golden bronze. The pigmentation is good, but not amazing, and gives a more natural wash of colour over the lids. Perfect to sweep on and blend a little for a no-fuss makeup look.
3CE Mood Recipe Matte Lip Colour #116* | USD $18
I was totally blown away with the pigmentation of this lipstick, it went on easily with one swipe and is very creamy. The packaging is great too, and it's so easy to see what the shade is on the inside. I am keen to try out some more lipsticks from this brand!
3CE Tatto Lip Tint in Coma* | USD $13
K-beauty is known for having amazing lip tints and I could not resist this one for the packaging alone! As you can see this one is very pigmentation and applies like a liquid lip but a lot lighter. This does not budge and having the name 'tattoo' that is what you might expect! The applicator is easy to use also and hugs the lips nicely.
Too Cool For School Art Class By Rodin* | USD $12
I was very interested in this product and the packaging certainly grabbed me - it's so unique! This is best used as a light bronzer or contour. The colour payoff isn't amazing, but I find this tends to work well as you can build it up rather than have a very pigmented powder and not be able to blend it! There are three shades inside but I find it works best to swirl them all together. They are the swatches at the top.
Aprilskin Eye Doll Brush Pen Liner in Brown* | USD $15
This is a traditional eyeliner pen but comes out quite light and natural. The formula is very light and applies easily without draggy or pulling the eyelid. Great for a more natural makeup day.
I love the packaging for this and it looks like a big lipstick tube but is actually a very light tint to the lips and you can use it to create the faded ombre lip which is a big trend in K-beauty.
Aprilskin Magic Oil Tint in 01 Scarlet* | USD $6
I went a bit crazy with the tints, but couldn't resist trying this one too and I really like it. The light formula leaves a natural looking pink tint to the lips which sticks around for hours. It means no fuss throughout the day and also helps to hydrate the lips and make them look a bit plumper.
Tony Moly Inked Cushion Gel Liner in Brown* | USD $7.62
Tony Moly is one of the Korean brand I hear a lot about and it seems it is one of the favoured ones. The packaging of this line is so unique, with the feather quill-like nib that you dab into the 'ink' pot. The feather part pulls out to reveal a slanted brush tip, with the cushion liner housed in the bottom which twists off. It has good pigmentation and works well to give more natural definition to the lash line rather than using black which can be quite harsh on certain people. It is also available in black, plum and olive green.
