If you missed my latest post (The Comeback Cass - read it here), you will know that I took an unintentional break from my blog for a few months there. I mentioned in that post that I have a bit of a backlog of Empties and other reviews to get through and I still want to post them as they're still relevant and will hopefully be helpful to you. There are a lot of familiar products on this list from May and June but a few new products that I really loved and want to rave about!
MAKEUP
Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation in 710
Ever since I went to the launch for this foundation yonks ago I have been hooked and this has been my everyday staple. I have oily/combo skin and I find this doesn't settle into my pores or fine lines and still looks seemingly natural while lasting all day. It's an amazing foundation although I do wish they would extend the shade range!
Colourpop No Filter Matte Concealer
I bloody love this concealer and always make sure I order a couple of tubes when I do my Colourpop orders. It is excellent coverage, doesn't feel or look cakey and blends well on the skin. It works well under the eyes and around the face, plus the shade range is amazing.
L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara
Much like the Covergirl Foundation, as soon as I tried this mascara there was no going back and I have used many mascaras in my time! This gives amazing volume, length and definition. The hourglass shape wand grabs the lashes and fans them out evenly. My only issue is that I get through a tube at least every 3-4 weeks as I find it dries up quite quickly but it doesn't stop me buying it again and again!
Colourpop Brow Boss Pencil in Dark Brown
Like the above products, this is a firm staple in my makeup routine. I find this pencil gives a natural but still sharp and polished brow. The pencil formula is quite firm so it stops your brows looking blocky and heavily drawn on.
Benefit Lollibalm Orchid Lip Balm
This is a little mini size of one of Benefit's lip balms, I quite liked this one and loved the subtle tint it gave to the lips. I wouldn't say it's the most hydrating formula, but for low fuss, it works well.
Weleda Skinfood Lip Balm
If you are a dry lip sufferer, I would really recommend this balm from Weleda - it is rich and hydrating and works fast. It uses all-natural products as well.
Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
Another of my makeup staples is this powder - I have used it for yeeeeears! It sets your foundation and concealer without adding any extra coverage, nor does it make you look super powdery. It just does the exact job that I want from a powder!
Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer
This is a mini size I got in a kit far too long ago so it was time it got retired. Although it was a smaller size this thing just kept on going and I absolutely loved it. I think I will have to get the full sized one soon as it's matte but not orangey and just warms up the skin naturally.
Rimmel London Insta Fix + Matte Powder
I really enjoy this powder from Rimmel too - it's relatively new to their range (compared to the Stay Matte) and I find it slightly more powdery on the skin and definitely very mattifying. I would happily purchase this one again.
SKINCARE
L'Oreal Pure Clay Exfoliating Scrub with Red Algae*
I still love a good manual exfoliation every few days especially in the mornings and this one from L'Oreal did the trick well and suited my skin type being more combination and acne-prone. It wasn't too harsh and the clays included in the formula gave it an almost face mask type feel.
Avene Mousse Cleansing Foam*
I am a huge fan of this French skincare brand and in my mind, they can do no wrong. This foaming cleanser was lovely to use and really felt like you were getting a deep clean but it was still very gentle on the skin as it's formulated with sensitive skin in mind. I would highly recommend.
Pixi Rose Tonic
If you haven't tried the cult Pixi Glow Tonic, I would seriously suggest you do! The Rose Tonic is an extension of this line with this one being aimed to normalise hydration levels in the skin, also to calm and brighten. I would say it's not as intense as the Glow Tonic but still a lovely product. This is used as a toner and can be used morning and night after you have cleansed.
Vestige Verdant Complete Care Night Cream*
I had the pleasure of working with Vestige Verdant on a couple of sponsored posts (you can see one of them here). This was a great night cream that was rich and hydrating with ingredients to help premature ageing. As you can see I really scrapped the bottom of this pot - I loved using it and my skin loved it too.
Trilogy Multi-Shield Moisturiser SPF 15*
Trilogy is another incredible natural skincare range that I have tried a lot from and loved. This Moisturiser certainly impressed me and worked well for a day cream under makeup. It wasn't too heavy on the skin and I liked that it has SPF included even though it was a smaller amount.
Rayna Stem Cell & Lipid Active Oil*
One word about this product - WOW. I was so sad when I got to the end of this as my skin drank this shiz up and I really noticed my skin looked and felt amazing every morning after using it. It's a retinol product so designed to help combat the signs of aging so should be used at night and always followed up with with an SPF in the mornings. It's an incredible oil filled with some amazing ingredients and I would happily spend the $165 to have this in my life again! Read more about it here.
Go-To Face Hero*
Yet another oil that I really loved! I have been using this on and off for ages now and reached for it when my skin needed a really good pick me up! It helps to brighten the skin, fight dark spots and hydrate. It's just goodness in a bottle and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Trilogy Vitamin C Booster Treatment*
Vitamin C products are having a real moment right now and Trilogy jumped on this with their two-step products, this Booster Treatment serum and a moisturiser. You have to use this consistently and quickly once opened as the Vit C will become unstable and ineffective over time particularly in this form and always use an SPF while using this as you are more prone to sun damage. If you have an event or something coming up, I would definitely recommend using this at least a month before to combat dark spots and give some much-needed brightness back into your skin.
Clinique Smart Custom Repair Eye Treatment*
This is a tiny little bottle that was in a gift with purchase bag I was sent, but surprisingly I did get a really decent amount of usage from it. I could see a difference in my under eye area even after only a couple of uses; they looked much brighter and more hydrated. I can understand the high price tag on this product and it does work as promised!
HAIR + MISC
Soap & Glory Scent-Sational Dry Shampoo
My love for this dry shampoo continues to grow because damn it does an amazing job. I would recommend this over every other one out there - it is incredible! It works well on brunette, you don't get any residue and it soaks up the oil in a flash.
Daiso Puff Sponge Detergent
The final product is an absolute staple for me, it cleans your makeup sponges so they look new again I always have a bottle of this on hand.
And that brings me to the end of my empty products I finished in May and June this year. Stay tuned for the next couple of months as I get through those and get caught up!
