As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I am playing a major catch up on my Empties posts from essentially the last 6 months! They have just flown by and I just didn't get round to writing about all of these pretty great products that I have finished up as of late. You will notice a lot of my favourites but some new ones thrown in that I have been testing.
HAIR + MISC
Hask Keratin Protein Flash Blow Dry Spray
I tried this spray after I couldn't find my favourite one from Hask, the Express Blow Dry Spray. This does work the same way in helping wet hair to dry a lot quicker and it also helps to smooth frizz and protect from heat. It is lightweight and doesn't leave a sticky residue.
Soap & Glory The Rushower Scent-Sational Dry Shampoo
This pops up in almost every Empties post from the past year or so - I just love this stuff! It smells lovely, it doesn't leave a white cast and it instantly refreshes the hair. I am so obsessed that I have bought 4 back up bottles to last me over the coming months because last year they stopped stocking it suddenly! I think it only comes back over the Summer/Christmas period but here's hoping it sticks around all year long.
Daiso Puff and Sponge Detergent
I always have a bottle of this on hand, it is only $3.50 from Daiso stores (mostly in Auckland, not sure whether they are elsewhere in NZ). It makes foundation and cream products run totally clean out of your sponges and brushes and it is the best I have used in terms of cleaning.
The Face Shop Protect Me! Hand Cream*
For the packaging alone, this gets a massive thumbs up for me. As with most K-Beauty products, they always nail the cute packaging, and the actual hand cream inside was lovely to use. It was lightweight but moisturised well and sunk into the skin quickly.
Linden Leaves Nourishing Hand Cream*
I have been trying to get through my excessive hand cream situation in my bedside table so expect to see a lot more coming in other Empties! This was a mini-sized tube which would be perfect for a handbag or to travel with and the hand cream itself worked really well.
SKINCARE
Skin Physics Dragon's Blood Advanced Treatment Cleanser*
I had never heard of Skin Physics before I was sent a couple products to try out. The products are made in NZ and Australia using rare and the most effective ingredients in their skincare lines. The Treatment Cleanser is a 3-in-1 but I just used this as a daily cleanser in the shower and really love how fresh and clean my skin felt after using it. It is gentle to use daily but is also has natural AHAs from fruit extracts included to help exfoliate the skin. I would definitely look at purchasing this myself now.
The Body Shop Seaweed Oil-Balancing Toner
Here's another staple that crops up every couple of months or so! I am a big fan of this toner and it has been a trusty faithful for years and years now. My skin isn't as oily as it used to be, but this helps to control the areas which do get oily (around my nose and cheeks in particular) and it helps to clean off any excess makeup residue after cleansing.
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant*
This is one of Dermalogica's cult favourite products and I can see why that's the case! Inside is the exfoliating powder which you shake into your hand and mix with water and then scrub onto the skin. It is gentle enough to be used daily and it also really helps to deeply cleanse the skin and get into the pores. I wasn't using this daily, but maybe 3-4 times a week and still saw the benefits of it. This huge bottle also lasts forever as you don't need much for each use.
Nivea Q10 Power Eye Cream*
I was sent this early last year and pulled it out of my stash to try out and unfortunately I was left disappointed. I did use the whole thing up as I don't want to waste products but I just found this to be very greasy on my skin and under makeup, especially if I used this around my eyelids. It would make my eyeshadow and concealer crease up throughout the day and I never usually have that problem. This is possibly aimed at more mature skin, hence the hydration factor but it just wasn't for me.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum
You can expect to see this pop up again and again. This was a new discovery in 2019 for me and I have to thank it for helping my skin out massively! It has really helped the oiliness of my skin and I find I get less hormonal breakouts and if I do get a breakout it's not as feisty and heals a lot quicker. It's such a great product and very affordable too (under $15!)
The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA
I received this from one of the ASOS Beauty Advent Calendars and had only just got around to trying it out. I did enjoy this moisturiser although it may have been a touch heavy on my skin during the day, but for the evenings it worked well. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this would work really well, particularly with the inclusions of hyaluronic acid to help lock moisturise in.MAKEUP
Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation
The rest of my Empties are all makeup products that I have talked on and on about before. This is my favourite foundation of the moment, it just agrees with my skin and gives good coverage and frankly, that is all I could want in a base!
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Corrector in Fair
My ride or die undereye concealer which I will continue to use FOREVER! As with the foundation, it just works so well and blends easily and doesn't crease on me.
Colourpop Brow Pencil in Bangin' Brunette
Brows are a key feature when I do my makeup. I am not blessed with full brows and the hairs are very light if I haven't had them tinted so I always like to fill them in and give them more body and shape. The Colourpop brow pencils are really great and work well to give a crisp and strong brow. If you are into a more natural look, this one isn't the one for your but their Brow Boss pencil is a little softer.
L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara in Black
This is my favourite mascara discovery of 2019 and I can't even tell you how many tubes I have been through! I find it does dry out quite quickly with daily use, but it gives the most amazing volume, length and thickness to the lashes which is what I want in a mascara. I couldn't recommend it enough and they also have a waterproof version if that is more your jam.
