If you are a long time reader you will know my slight obsession with eyeshadow palettes. I literally can't resist them and I love trying out new ones that come out. Rimmel London who has been launching new products left right and centre (most of them are awesome!), has bought out larger palette in their Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palette range, as well as a new eyeliner and mascara. Let me tell you, these palettes are pretty damn impressive...
Before I get to the palettes, I will quickly mention two new eye products. First, is the Wonder-Fully Real Mascara* (NZD $21.99) available in Black. This mascara claims to lengthen and create volume but still keep the lashes looking natural. The formula has Keratin through it to help 'stretch' the lashes as it claims. I haven't got on too well with this one, to be honest, but I want it to dry up a little before I give it my final verdict (sometimes mascaras just need to be a bit drier for them to be at their full potential!) I do want to like this mascara but I find it doesn't volumise and lengthen as much as I would like and the formula was just too wet and the wand brushed on way too much to the lashes. As I said, I will wait for it to dry up and will update this post or share my thoughts on Instagram.
Next up is the Wonder Wing Liner* (NZD $17.99) available in Black. This is a really cool concept that is a felt tip liner with a unique tip that you can stamp on to help create your wing. My eye shape stops me from getting a good eyeliner wing (much to my disappointment) so I tend to just keep it quite thin along the top lash line. The formula of this liner could be a lot denser in my opinion, but on the lid, it does look a lot blacker than what the swatches show for some reason. The wing stamper isn't going to make it look super sharp and crisp but it certainly helps as a guide to then just tidy up the edges. If you are a winged liner newbie, this is a good one to have a play with.
Now on to the pièce de résistance - the brand new 12 Pan Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palettes* (NZD $25.99 each) available in four colourways; Smokey, Blush, Nude, and Bold (Colour Edition). I have expressed my love for the smaller 6 pan palettes which were released earlier this year (see my review with swatches here), and these palettes are just as good, if not better! I have two of the palettes to share, the Blush, and the Bold.
BLUSH EDITION
If you like the look of the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, then this is definitely a good dupe for those sorts of rosy, pink tones, with some really nice taupes and bronzes in it too. This palette is a stunner and as you can see it swatches like a dream, except for the shade third to the end, which sadly lacked pigmentation like the others. This I can forgive though as I don't get a lot of use from that sort of shade and the others are just so pretty. I enjoy how these blend, I like how they wear throughout the day and I like the shade selection. It really is a winner.
BOLD (COLOUR) EDITION
I am hands down a neutral eyeshadow lover, by that I mean I tend to just stick with bronzes, warm tones, blush shades - you know, the normal. But I have to say, this palette is so good and it is probably my pick of the whole bunch. The pigmentation on each of these shades was as good as the Blush edition (with the exception of the green which isn't as pigmented as the others). I like that you have more 'wearable' tones in the first half of the palette but then some amazing punchy colours in the latter half. That turquoise blue is stunning and works so nicely with the metallic navy.
These are all available now in NZ (and likely worldwide too) and I would definitely suggest trying out the palettes, especially as they are a really good price for 12 shades!
