June literally passed by in a flash, at the time it seemed to drag on but now looking back I can't help but think where did the month go? The majority of my June was spent down in Christchurch for my job. CHCH is my hometown so it was nice to be down there for a while and check out what's new in the ever-changing city and catch up with old friends and family, however, I was really missing my Auckland home and my partner. It's great to finally be back and get back into my blog properly as I felt like it suffered a bit while I was away and I was lacking a lot of motivation to write. As I was away for so long I also only had a small makeup bag of products, not my usual selection that I have at home, hence why I only have a very small selection of favourites for the past month. So mini June/life update aside, let's kick into the beauty...
Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Highlighting Powder in Candlelight**
When it comes to highlighters I get stuck using a few of my all time favourites, but recently got my hands on this one which is a favourite of many. It is my very first Kevyn Aucoin product and it feels so luxe, it even has its own black velvet slipcase (very fancy indeed!) The powder itself is just beautiful to use, it hasn't got any obvious chunks of glitter in it and it looks really nice on the skin due to the finely milled powder. It gives a gorgeous glow that looks more 'lit from within'.
Essence Camouflage Full Coverage Concealer in Light*
The more I use from Essence Cosmetics, the more I fall in love with the brand. It's insanely affordable but the products are so good and the quality overall is really high. This concealer delivers on the full coverage front but it doesn't look cakey on the skin and I find it wears all day. The formula works into the skin well and works well under the eyes too - a little goes a long way and it covers easily.
xoBeauty Matte Lipstick in Philocaly
Shannon (aka Shaaanxo) has absolutely nailed it with her brand new lipstick range, which is totally unsurprising as that girl knows her lip products (have you seen her makeup collection?!) She recently came out with 5 lipsticks, and 5 liquid lipsticks, I have only used this shade so I can't speak for the others, but the matte formula is super comfortable, non-drying but also lasts for a good amount of time on the lips. Philocaly is described as a mauve, toned down pink, and it is the perfect everyday shade. Shop the range here.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumising Mascara
I have had this unopened tucked away for ages, and I finally cracked it open and realise why a lot of people absolutely loved it. This mascara does not mess around - it creates amazing length and volume and makes my lashes look so good without clumping or flaking. Even though it's from a super cheap brand, this one performs even better than some mascaras which are over NZD $40!
I am also giving away some moisturisers from Auckland-based natural and cruelty-free skincare brand Seed + Soul on my Instagram. It's super easy to enter, so check it out if you live in NZ.
