YSL | New Product Launches - Black Opium Floral, The Shock Mascara + The Street And I Face Palettes - Review + Swatches - CassandraMyee

What does one do when they receive a bag full of new YSL goodies?! Let out a little yelp and dig straight in! I was incredibly lucky to receive a selection of the brand new releases that will be hitting YSL counters across the globe; some countries will already have some of these products and for us NZ girls, these are coming out today (March 20th). There is a beautiful new fragrance and some pretty stellar makeup products, so let's get into it.

Black Opium Floral Shock | NZD $117.00 (30ml), $175.00 (50ml) + $244.00 (90ml)
Black Opium is a cult scent and I know so many people who love it, I have never actually owned this perfume, but I am so happy to now add this one to my scent library. It smells divine; on first sniff, I knew I was going to love it and I have been wearing it a lot. The bottle is in line with the other Black Opium's, this time with the more of glitter gradient which you can see the light peachy/pink scent inside.  The main notes include coffee as in the original Black Opium, but with a hit of sweet freshness in the form of freesia, bergamot and pear, with subtle notes of gardenia and orange blossom.

Eye Gloss Smudger Glossy Top Coat Eye Gel* | NZD $58.00
I was really intrigued by this product which promises to give your shadow a lived in, rocky vibe by adding a high-intensity gloss and sheen to the lids. It comes packaged in a simple tube which gives off a lipgloss vibe. The gloss works really well to help smudge out a shadow look and add an amazing sheen. A tiny amount goes such a long way, otherwise, if you use too much it looks really greasy and moves the shadows around underneath. It certainly isn't a product for everyday use but I think lightly dabbed over a smokey eye or something super metallic will give the look a whole other dimension. You can also use it on the cheekbones to help catch the light over a highlighter, or on its own.

The Shock Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils* | NZD $66.00
If you are a fan of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (like I am), you are definitely going to love this one as well. Whilst it is not as intense as Better Than Sex, The Shock Mascara delivers amazing volume, length and fullness to the lashes in just a couple of coats. I have been using this a lot since I received it and as my first foray into the YSL world of mascaras, I am impressed! The brush has an hourglass shape it to which I find works well to really grab the lashes at the outer and inner corner to lift and coat with ease. I find this wears well on me and I don't experience any transferring or flaking from it. It doesn't clump up either, even if you apply it quite thick. It comes in three shades; black, brown and blue.

Face Palette Collector I Have a Blush On You* | NZD $100.00
I had seen these crop up on Instagram and blogs from the UK, and I am so pleased these are launching here too. The packaging is to die for, I am seriously impressed that YSL has gone a little more edgy and adventurous with the designs which will definitely make it appeal to a younger audience. The Blush itself is stunning (see swatch below), it's a corally peach which is one of my favourite sort of shades to use on myself. The quality is high as well, as one would hope. It blends well and doesn't fade as much as other on the skin. This is a must have if you are a makeup collector or lover of YSL.

Face Palette Collector Eyeshadows* | NZD $122.00
The second limited edition palette holds five eyeshadows inside. The design matches the blush, but instead, it reads "Keep An Eye On Me", so you know what you are in for once you open it up. The shades inside are definitely not the most wearable and a very bold and out there. The first three shades swatched above are the most wearable, but the hot coral orange/red and shimmery pink aren't going to be shades that I personally will be reaching for much. They have lovely pigmentation, though; the middle darker grey shade could be a little better and is a little harder to blend compared to the others in the palette. If you are all about the packaging and design, though, this is certainly going to draw you in.

These will be out on counters now in NZ and I would seriously suggest checking out the Black Opium Floral Shock. the blush and The Shock Mascara.

I'd love to hear what you think of these products - are you a YSL fan like I am?
