I have always loved affordable makeup, of course, I love luxury products but my bank account doesn't, so I tend to always go for the 'drugstore' brands. In all honesty, I think some of these brands have some stand out products, and they definitely shouldn't be overlooked. Designer Brands is what I would classify as a 'drugstore' brand that is sold in pharmacies here in New Zealand and Australia. It's an Australian brand and has been around for ages! Their range is vegan and cruelty-free and basically, all of the products are under $30, if not under $20. They recently released some new eyeshadow palettes* and liners* that are well worth checking out.

EYE SEE YOU 6 SHADE EYESHADOW PALETTES

If you are a long time reader you will know my love for eyeshadow palettes, and if this is the first post you've ever read; hello, I am an eyeshadow hoarder and have enough palettes to last me hundreds of years. I love trying out palettes, and the tones of these palettes caught my eye immediately. Each palette is only $14.99 - a total bargain in my eyes and makes each shadow around $2.50 each.

The quality really surprised - the metallic are super pigmented, the matte shadows are smooth and not at all chalky or powdery and they blend really well. Each palette is well curated with a couple of complimentary matte shades, some lighter and some darker, with some beautiful metallic accent shades. They're do-it-all eyeshadow palettes.

MAKE IT MAUVE

This palette contains four matte shades and two shimmers. The tones are all rosy and mauve and they remind me a lot of the newly released Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette. I would go as far as saying that this is the best sort of tones inspired by that palette.

SEA BREEZE

For those with blue eyes, this would be such a complementary palette. This one contains four mattes and two shimmers, all of which are mostly cool toned. The stand out shimmery turquoise blue is a stunning shade and really unique. I'm a big fan of this one.

KAH-KEEN

Green eyed peeps - this palette has you covered. This one also has two shimmer shades and four mattes. The gold shade knocked my socks off when I first swatched it and it looks amazing on the lids too. I am also a fan of the khaki green - it still is quite neutral but a nice change from my usual warm browns.

COCO LOCO

This is definitely my most used of the six palettes - these are the sort of tones I love to use on my eyes at the moment. It's very warm-toned with four mattes and two shimmers. The two matte browns do look quite similar in the swatches but one is just a bit darker than the other. The shimmery plum bronze is my go-to.

FIRED UP

If you love warm tones, like these oranges and reds, this is the one for you. It's not totally my vibe but I could see a lot of people rocking these tones. Like the others above, it has four mattes and two shimmers.

SMOKE & GLITTER

The final palette contains some beautiful steel tones and champagne and golds. It has three shimmers and three mattes, unlike the others.

PIGMENT PLUS WATER RESISTANT RETRACTABLE EYELINERS

I am not a huge eyeliner wearer, but when I do, I want something that is going to last and not smudge all over the place. These do just that and come in some really cool shades. There are eight shades available at NZD $11.99 each. There are five metallic ones (Chocolate Shard, Gold Rush, Nude Milkshake, Orchid Frost and Emerald Sea) and three without shimmer (Black Abyss, Out of the Blue and Berry Tart). The swatches show two strokes of each one, and they're amazingly pigmented and glide on so easily. On the eyes you can work with them a little bit and smudge them out then they set down and will need a good oily makeup remover to get rid of them. A big plus is that they have a hidden sharpener - the coloured base of the pencil pulls off and that becomes the sharpener, meaning you can get a crisp line each time you use them.

Designer Brands can be found in physical stores in Australia and New Zealand but they also ship internationally from their website for a standard rate of AUD $10, which is amazing. I would really recommend not only checking out these products which surprised me, but also some of their other products.

Have you heard of Designer Brands before? What palette would you pick?
