I know it's almost halfway through May already (how and also why!?), but I always love sharing my Empties and there were a fair few from April! There is a mix of everything here, so let's crack into it because it might be a long one!
Clinique Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturiser*
I should preface this by saying that I didn't use up two moisturisers in a month, these I have been using for months and months now! This Clinique one is designed for those with combination/oily skin types and I really enjoyed this. It gave a good blur effect to the skin, sat well under makeup, felt lightweight and just did its job well! I would definitely consider buying this one.
Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream*
This sadly is only half empty, but the lid had cracked and I've had it for a while and the texture felt a bit off. When it was in its peak life though it was such a nice day cream. I would say it's more suited to those with dry/normal skin as it feels very rich on the skin. As with other Antipodes products, they're packed with beautiful natural ingredients that really work well for the skin.
Antipodes Manuka Honey Brightening Eye Cream*
One of my favourite skincare items is the humble eye cream, some find it useless, but I honestly need one morning and night! This was a solid product in my routine for months and I loved it; it kept my undereye looking bright and moisturised and I couldn't recommend their eye creams more!
Maybelline Eye + Lip Make Up Remover
What a surprise to see a bottle of this in here. This is hands down the best eye and lip makeup remover I have used and I use it religiously. End of story.
Goodness Break-Up Make-Up Balm*
If you aren't familiar with Goodness, they are the sister brand to Trilogy and are aimed at a younger audience. I really like the products I have used from them and they all use the power of chia seed oil as the dominant ingredient. I am all about oils and balms to remove my makeup and this one worked really well. If you have dry skin I would seriously suggest trying this out because after you wash your face you are still left feeling so nourishing and not at all dry.
The Body Shop Skin Defense Multi Protection Essense*
Now, this product was my summer go-to. I used this as my day cream for ages when it was warmer because of the SPF50 and PA++++ protection. This is super lightweight and can be used alone, or with a moisturiser on top. I was so blown away by just how nice it was to use because sometimes facial sunscreen can feel quite heavy and sticky and it doesn't bode well with makeup - this was the total opposite. I will definitely be investing in this as we go into Spring and Summer again later this year.
Bump Eraiser No More Ingrowns
I talked about this in one of my Most Loved posts in December because it was a life saver to prevent ingrown hairs which I was getting quite bad. I used this after shaving and just sprayed it on and rubbed it into my legs. I think it acts like a chemical exfoliator almost to help treat redness and bumps. It really worked well and is something I won't be without.
Kerastase Elixir Ultime Volume Beautifying Oil Mist
This was a little mini bottle I think I got as a sample in an NZ Fashion Week goodie bag. It worked well in the hair, not sure how much it did for the volume but the oil gave a nice shine to the hair. I liked that you could spray it on which meant it was more even and didn't weigh down the hair.
Daiso Puff and Sponge Detergent
This is a staple product in my bathroom if you can get your hands on it - it's a game changer. This will literally get out every bit of foundation in your sponge and make it as good as new again. I love this stuff and haven't found anything that comes close to this. Plus it's only $3.50 (or $3 if you buy 3 of them!)
Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Caring Micellar Water*
A micellar water should be a must in your skincare routine, no matter how low maintenance you are. I liked this one from Nivea, it worked well to remove makeup and worked well on the eyes too. I don't know if I prefer it to the Garnier one but it still did a good job.
Mecca Max Face-Off Makeup Removing Wipes
I got these as a sample when I ordered some products from the Mecca Max brand a while back. As far as a makeup wipe goes it did its job but I don't think it was anything mind-blowing. They are really well priced though (NZD $8 for 20 wipes) so I probably would repurchase them again.
Maybelline Dream Cushion Fresh Face Liquid Foundation On-The-Go SPF 20*
I was really excited to see Maybelline bring out their own version of the cushion foundation and I really like this one and is something I would purchase again to have in my foundation stash. It has a light/medium buildable coverage and feels like nothing on the skin and also looks pretty undetectable. I did find that after a few hours my oiliness would start creeping through so not a long lasting one for me but perfect for everyday/casual wear.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer
I can't even count how many of these I've been through but it's the best concealer for under the eye hands down. I love the light formula and that it doesn't cake or settle into fine lines under the eyes. It's a brilliant product and I am so glad you can get it in NZ now!
Colourpop Brow Boss Pencil in Brunette
Another staple makeup product for me is the Colourpop brow pencils - this one has quite a stiff pencil and creates a more natural looking brow. The colour works well for me, and is a bit more on the grey side of brown so certainly looks more natural. I always have a few of these stockpiled away!
Essence The False Lashes Mascara
I don't think there is any need to spend extortionate amounts of money on mascara when brands like Essence do them so well. Nearly every mascara I've tried from them has been amazing, and The False Lashes Mascara is no exception. This has quite a narrow tapered brush with natural bristles but it just gives amazing length and volume to the lashes. I don't find this smudges on me either, plus it's about $5 NZD - it doesn't get much better than that!
