It's time to hit the rewind button and head back to the 90s, a much simpler time and one that I definitely miss! Last year Colourpop produced an awesome collaboration with My Little Pony with a line up of Super Shock Shadows, Pressed Highlighters, Liquid Lips and Glosses as well as cutes makeup bags and brush sets all inspired by the 90s MLP's.
I wasn't really into My Little Pony when I was younger (a Barbie fan, through and through), but because I am a sucker for Colourpop and limited edition collections, and special packaging; getting some products from the MLP collection was a no-brainer. I am regretting now not getting one of the Matte Liquid Lips, but at the time I ordered none of the shades really jumped out at me.
The packaging is covered in MLP's straight from the 90s which is so cute and the product packaging is a light lilac with dark purple accents.
I bought one of each from the eye and cheek category and went for the Super Shock Shadow in Posey (USD $5.00) which is a 'soft pinky beige with silver, gold and pink glitter'. It is more of a sheer wash of shimmer rather than something that packs a whole lot of pigment. This is best used as a topper over another shadow but it certainly brings the shimmer and is really pretty.
The Pressed Highlighters from this collection were a little obscure in shade choices but I wanted to try at least one. I went for the shade Starflower, a peachy gold (USD $8.00). Their highlighters are really top notch and the formula is beautiful to use. The shade isn't the easiest to pull off but with a bit of a tan and for more of a bronzey, glowing look this does work well. It also works as a quick all over the lid eyeshadow too.
Now on to what I think is the most exciting thing they launched as part of the CP x MLP collaboration - the Pressed Powder Shadow Palette (USD $16.00/approx. NZD $22). It is covered in ponies and is unbelievably cute (how many times can I say that in this post?!). It comes with 12 new shades, exclusive to the palette.
As with the other CP shadows I have reviewed, these are really amazing shadows. The pigmentation, the formulas, the blendability... everything is good and so is the price. You can't get much better at this price point in my opinion.
The shades are definitely not your usual warm browns, but instead, it is packed with pinks, purples, blues and teals in a unique blend of shades. A lot of the other CP palettes do have similar sort of themes so it is good to see something with some brighter, more daring tones in it. In saying that I think you can totally make these work and the shade Princess Sparkle is one of my favourites. This is a break down of the shade descriptions from the Colourpop website:

I don't think this is the best CP Palette you can buy from the range, but for something that is nostalgic, limited edition and a fun selection of shades, it's a good one for the collection. Most of this collection is still available online, but once sold out it's likely to not come back into stock.
