EMPTIES | March '17 - Manuka Doctor, ATZEN, The Body Shop, Maybelline, Colourpop + More - CassandraMyee

We are well into April now so as tradition it is time to talk you through the products I finished throughout the month of March. As with all my other Empties, these are products I have had on the go for months now, certainly not finished up in the space of 30 (ish) days! I've got a good mix of skincare and a couple of my makeup staples too.

ATZEN Balance DNA Repair Serum* | NZD $172 (30ml) / $253 (50ml)
My skincare game has been pretty darn good lately thanks to this product and the below ones as well. I don't know how I managed to finish three serum type products nearly all at once but I have had them in a cycle of rotation, giving each one a good few weeks to really test them out. ATZEN is newly launched in NZ and is a French skincare company with a focus on all natural ingredients and products, but still providing very high-quality skincare that works. This is part of their anti-aging line and is a light, gel-like blue serum that is applied after cleansing and toning. I found this worked well on my skin, however, after it sunk in my skin felt quite tight and definitely needed some moisturiser. It is designed to tighten the skin, pores and elasticity so perhaps it was doing exactly what it promises! My skin has definitely been looking a bit better and I can attribute some of that to this serum. This serum definitely isn't cheap but if you are prepared to pay a bit more for skincare, you might like to check out the range.

ATZEN Renew Vita C Serum* | RRP $91.00
Much like the above, this is applied after cleansing and toning and it was the first ATZEN product I tried prior to their launch last year. This one is great for any skin type and would work great for those in their 20s and 30s. It promotes brightening of the skin, whilst also helping to repair sun damage and clear pores and acne. It's a wonder product in a way and tackles all the main concerns that I personally have. It was a very light, clear liquid like serum, and 1-2 pumps are all I needed each time. I did prefer this one compared to the one above as I feel like it offered more for my needs at this time.

The Body Shop Drops of Light Pure Health Brightening Serum | NZD $81.95
Out of the three serums I have finished, I think this one is on the top, even compared to the ATZEN ones, which are very lovely and work well but this one really gave me great results. This serum is dispensed through a pipette, and almost has a water like consistency that absorbed in right away. I found a noticeable difference in some of my new acne scars and older ones too - they have definitely faded and are less noticeable. This also has a more reasonable price point for my budget and I would happily purchase this.

Manuka Doctor Drops of Crystal Cashmere Touch Cream* | NZD $49.95
This has got to be one of my favourite moisturisers I have used in a little while, I absolutely scrapped the bottom of the pot so I could get the most out of it. It has a super soft and light texture that absorbed into the skin with ease. The main ingredients in the entire Manuka Doctor range is Purified Bee Venom (avoid if you are allergic!) which helps to encourage collagen reformation and increases the skins elasticity. As a night cream, my skin always felt amazing the next morning and I just felt it looked a lot better and clearer. This is more of their high-end range on offer from Manuka Doctor - I have also been using the Drops of Crystal Serum so I will review that once I have got through it. If I didn't have a few other night creams to trial I would definitely get this one as I loved how my skin felt.

The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel* | NZD $17.50
Nothing is more invigorating than the smell of citrus, especially oranges so I loved using this in the shower. Shower gels are just one of those must haves, but The Body Shop always deliver with amazing scents and they also work well to cleanse the body.

Maybelline Eye + Lip Makeup Remover x2 | NZD $8.99
As always I got through two bottles of my favourite eye makeup remover from Maybelline. Honestly, I have tried others (I am using one at the moment from another, more expensive brand), and this one always trumps! It doesn't sting, is gentle but removes makeup with ease.

Colourpop Brow Pencil in Bangin' Brunette | USD $5.00 [NZD $7.20 approx.]
This has been my brow pencil of choice for months now, and this is probably the second or third one I have been through. I have very sparse and light brows, so I need a lot of filling in and I like them to look quite dark and precise. I can definitely achieve this with this pencil although it is a bit softer than I would like but I have learnt to make it work!

Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder | NZD $6.75
As you can see from the metal pan, this powder has been very well used and very well loved. It is such an amazing powder and for the price of $7, you can't fault it. It is very finely milled, and transparent so it sets down your foundation without adding any extra coverage or cakiness to the skin. It keeps me matte for longer and also works well to set concealer under the eyes. I raced out to Farmers to buy another one as soon as this one finished!

Maybelline Master Fix By Face Studio Wear Boosting Setting Spray | NZD $21.99
A setting spray is a must for me (as is a good mattifying primer) and this one from Maybelline is super lightweight on the skin but really does a good job at keeping things in place for longer throughout the day. It also feels really refreshing and settles everything down on the skin. I already have bought a new one as it's so good to have in the makeup stash.

What products did you get through recently? Have you used any of the above?
