I always get so excited when a brand like L'Oreal drops a whole lot of new product for us NZ beauty lovers to indulge in. In May I went along to a gorgeous brunch at Gusto at Sky City Grand and got to hear all about the new products launching and we were given a demonstration of the products by NZ makeup artist Lisa Matson who has been in the industry for over 20 years. She talked us through the new products as she applied them, and I couldn't wait to get home to try them for myself.
There are so many exciting new products rolling out in to stores now, and some of them you should definitely try for yourself. Here is the low down on each release...
Infallible Fixing Mist* | NZD $29.99
I am all about the setting sprays; I have used a fair few and love that they help to set your makeup in place and keep it there for longer. This new one from L'Oreal is definitely one of the best ones I have tried and I am about half way through my bottle as I've been using it every day! This one needs to be given a good shake as it has this fine powder in it that settles at the bottom. The mist is fine and covers the face well in a few spritzs and it dries down on the skin very quickly. I find this one you can actually feel on the skin; it helps to mattify and I really find it prolongs my makeup.
Nude Magique Cushion Dewy Glow Foundation* [six shades available] | NZD $33.99
Cushion foundations are having a huge moment in the Western beauty world. Hailing from Korea, these compacts hold liquid foundation in a spongey 'cushion'. The idea of it I really love, great for travelling with and carrying in your bag for on the go touch ups. It comes with a mirror, and a sponge, with the product housed under a flap. Lisa instructed us to 'tap, tap, tap' with this one, using the sponge to bounce lightly over the skin. It provides light to medium coverage, with a natural dewy glow to it. I thought my oily skin would completely disagree with this but I find it actually sits nicely, although it doesn't last as long on me. Those with dry/normal skins that like a more natural finish to their foundation that looks like skin, this is one to try.
Blush Sculpt Trio Contouring Blush in 102 Nude Beige + 201 Soft Rosy* | NZD $31.99
I was really intrigued when I first saw these, as they are very different from your traditional one colour in a pan blush. The idea is you use the darker shade on the apples, and move up the cheeks to the lightest shade as highlight. You can use the shades separately (although the middle one is very hard to get on the brush), or what I do is lightly tap and sweep to get a mix of the shades. These blushes are quite shimmery, and very pigmented as you can see in the swatches. I'm still not 100% on these, but if you are into some glow, have a try of these.
False Lash Wings Sculpt Mascara in Black* | NZD $25.99
This new mascara has launched as an extension of the 'Butterfly' or 'Wings' range. Like the others this has a very unique brush shape to it, which allows you to tightline the upper lash line while you use the mascara, creating denser and fuller lashes. I find the wand a little hard to get used to at first, but I like the effect it leaves. It helps to fan out all the lashes, particularly the outer ones and the does get down right to the root.
Brow Artist Sculpt in 02 Brunette + 04 Dark Brunette* | NZD $21.99
Brows are very important to me; I think if your brows are looking good, then it really helps to pull your makeup together and helps to frame the face. The new Brow Artist sculpt is a two in one product, the tip has a flat tool which you can use to fill in the brows and create more shape and the bristles are used to blend the product through the brows and set them. It has a light, cream texture, which dries to a matte finish. For quick brows, this is a handy product to have!
Revitalift Filler [HA[ Intensive Replumping Night Anti-Aging Moisturiser* + Revitalift Filler [HA[ Intensive Replumping Eye Cream* | NZD $44.99 each
Not only was there new makeup products, these two new skincare products were introduced to us. They have extended the Revitalift Filler [HA] line that includes a Day Cream and a Serum, to now add the Night Cream and the Eye Cream. These products contain Fibroxyl, which when combined with hyaluronic acid it aids to refill and re-plump the skin, with the need for injections. I am yet to use these, but I could imagine they would be great for mature skin.
La Vie En Rose Collection by Color Riche Exclusive Lipsticks* | NZD $23.99
I wouldn't be a L'Oreal release without some of their signature lipsticks coming out in new shades. The Collection Exclusive Pinks are just gorgeous with five shades of pink chosen by some of their ambassadors. There should be a pink to suit most people; my personal favourite is Eva's shade. These are very creamy lipsticks, not overly pigmented, and have a sheen finish to them.
Supergraphic Pops by Color Riche Le Vernis* | NZD $9.99
My love for nail polish is well documented, and when I saw these four new shades I wanted to get them on my nails stat! They are super bright, saturated and opaque formulas, with the colours available being 240 Pop Corn, 241 Cloud Wow, 242 Pink O Pop and 244 Green LOL.
The majority of these new products should be out in stores now, or if not they will be coming soon! They also introduced the Infallible Sculpt Palette* NZD $33.99 for highlighting and contouring in two shades, Light/Medium and Medium/Dark. I've only just received these as they just got the stock, but when Lisa demonstrated them it looked beautiful.
Will you be buying any of these new releases? What products catch your eye?
