With Summer well and truly in full swing (this humidity in Auckland is crazy...), there have been a few products that have become staples in my skin and body care routine. I am constantly using and trying a lot of different products for my skin, but this little selection is some that have become essentials for these hotter months.
Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Advanced Dry Touch Protection Mist SPF 50+* | $22.99 via. Countdown
I was lucky enough to go to the launch event for this product, where they talked all about the Save Our School Pools campaign and the collaboration of Garnier and Water Safety NZ in helping raise money and awareness for this great initiative. Obviously, during Summer sunblock is a must, particularly in NZ. Now I am pretty guilty of not wearing enough sunblock but I've really made a conscious effort to slip and slop my block on. This one from Garnier is awesome for so many reasons; the spray makes it so easy to apply, especially to the back and neck where it's hard to reach. It sprays out a really fine mist so you don't have to do a lot of rubbing in - it soaks into the skin easily. And the best part is that it is totally non-greasy or sticky, plus it's SPF 50 and water resistant. If you're a bit picky about your sunblock, may I suggest this one (it'd be great for kids too!)
The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion SPF 15 | $34.25 via. The Body Shop
I use this moisturiser throughout the whole year, but find it great in the Summer. It has an SPF in it, although not really as high as you should be wearing on your face (if I'm not wearing much makeup I'll reach for something higher). But under makeup and for everyday wear, if I'm at home or work and not out in the sun as much, this is really good. The Seaweed range is ideal for combination/oily skin and helps to give moisture, but also controls the oil during the day.
The Body Shop Mango Body Sorbet* | $26.00 via. The Body Shop
A good body moisturiser is a must during the summer (well for all year round if I'm honest), as the sun and sea can really dry out the skin. The Body Shop have brought back, for a limited time, the Body Sorbets, which make the perfect beach bag moisturiser. These have a unique consistency to them, much like a sorbet weirdly, but they melt into the skin and give a super fresh scent with a lot of moisturisation. For after sun care these are really great too, as you can keep them in the fridge, so if you were a little naughty and got a bit of burn, grab this for instant cooling hydration. I have the Mango one which just smells so summery, but there are also a bunch of different scents like Green Tea, Strawberry, Satsuma and Pink Grapefruit.
Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub Mojito* | $34.00 via. Beauty Bliss
Jeffree Star has expanded from the (amazing) Velour Liquid Lipsticks, bringing out a range of lip scrubs to prep and prime your lips before you slap on your lip colour. The Mojito one is totally made for summer and helps to scrub away any dry, flaky skin. The price is a little steep for what essentially is just a pot of sugar, but the packaging is fabulous, the smell (and taste) is so delicious, and I love the ethics behind the brand. There is also other flavours, including Root Beer, Strawberry Gum and Spearmint.
