2016 is shaping up to be an amazing year for new beauty releases, beauty brands are coming out with new products left, right and centre and we're not even through the second month of the year yet! Clinique's big launches for the start of this year is the Pep-Start Eye Cream* which I've been using for the past month or so, and their latest foundation offering coming out in March, the Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick*.
CHUBBY IN THE NUDE FOUNDATION STICK | RRP $49.00 - available from March 14th
Clinique was one of the first to establish the chubby stick trend, they had the chubby sticks for lips, and then did the Chubby Cheeks too. Now they've extended that line up with a foundation stick, ideal for on the go touch-ups. There're 10 shades available and I have 06 Intense Ivory (swatch of the colour below), which is a perfect match for my skin tone. This foundation can be used all over the face, or just as a touch up on blemishes, or any imperfections you might want to conceal for a natural look. I've been using this a bit since I received it, and this hot humid weather definitely put it through its paces.
It offers light to medium coverage; the first layer, once blended, is light, but you can dab more on where you need it most and blend from there. I usually do a few strokes on the face (and end up with a look like I'm in the army or something), and use a brush or sponge to then blend it out. I find it blends really well into the skin. It gives a natural finish, not matte, but not overly dewy either. It promises eight hours of wear but unfortunately on my oily/combination skin and with the heat it didn't hold up as well as I would have liked. Ideally, this would work better on dry to normal skin, but perhaps when things aren't so sweaty it'll wear for the eight hours it promises.
PEP-START EYE CREAM | RRP $49.00 - available from February 8th
I'm sure if you've seen a Clinique counter lately it all would have been decked out in orange to celebrate this launch. The Pep-Start Eye Cream is designed to instantly brighten the eye area and make you look more refreshed like you've had a really good sleep. I've been absolutely loving this eye cream, and I've probably only got about a quarter or less of it left! The reason why it's called Pep-Start is due to the combination of seven peptides in the cream that help maintain the collagen around your eye area, with lots of other added benefits too.
The packaging is really nifty, the top pops open and the cream is dispensed through a hole at the top. You can then use that to blend it around the eye area. I do find though I prefer to just put a small amount onto my index finger and then dab it in from there as it works into the skin a lot quicker that way. It feels really lightweight and soaks in almost straight away and I can definitely tell that my eyes don't look as puffy. It also keeps the area well moisturised throughout the day, and makes a great base for makeup, preventing concealer to cake up in that area.
If you're a Clinique fan or looking for a new eye cream definitely take a trip to a counter and check it out. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to give you a demo of it - it's an eye cream I would happily purchase myself (and, to be honest, I probably will once I've made my way through this tube!)
What do you think of the new releases?
