After this particular post here, where I gave a quick overview of the new L'Oreal releases coming out this month, many of you were eager to read my thoughts on the new Matte FX* lip colours. I've been giving them a trial run over the past couple of weeks, so here's my thoughts on these unique new offerings.

As I mentioned in the overview post, the packaging of these is very similar to the Smokissime Super Liners* - the coloured part twists off to reveal the tapered sponge tip applicator, with the pigment packed into the lid. I find the packaging really intriguing and completely unique, a bonus is that the colour on the outside lid is a good indicator to what you're getting inside.

Not only is the packaging unique, the formula is as well. These are a matte powder product, which feels surprisingly lightweight on the lips, and very unlike other matte lip products which generally come as a liquid that dries down. The sponge tip means you can create an ombre look with the lip colours, pack it on, or leave a light hint of colour. They have a really good amount of pigment to them and are easily built up on the lips. The applicator takes a bit to get used to, and one thing I don't really like is that they leave a slightly blurred effect around the lip line, so generally I use a lip liner to define my lip shape and then go in with the Matte FX. They promise 10 hours of wear, but I definitely don't find they last that long. At a maximum I get about 4-5 hours, depending on how much I'm drinking or eating.

There are six shades available in NZ and Australia (I'm unsure if there are more elsewhere in the world). The shades cover most of your lip colour needs - there is; 001 Silencio (light nude brown/pink), 002 Virgin (light pink), 004 Oops I Pink It Again (darker pink), 006 Disturbia (orange), 007 Say My Name (vibrant red) and 008 I Gotta Feeling (purple). The colours I've been reaching for the most are Silencio and Virgin - they're staple lipstick shades that everyone should have!

The Matte FX retail for $23.99 each, available from department stores and pharmacies around the country.

Have you tried any of the Matte FX shades? What one do you like the look of the most?
