It's been far too long since I did a good ol' classic beauty haul, the main reason being that I just haven't been buying that much makeup lately (shocking I know, but my bank account is rejoicing). So here are a few new things on my radar that I either bought over the past month or so, or are products I was kindly sent by PR that I want to share with you lot. Let's crack into some makeup goodness...
L.A. Girl Velvet Hi-Lite Contour Stick in Radiance* | NZD $12.00 via. Beauty Bliss
When I saw these on the Beauty Bliss website earlier last month I knew I was going to have to get a couple to try out. I'm all for contouring and highlighting, but definitely, like quick and simple products that will give me that contoured look. They have a few shades in this range, I went for Radiance which is a really natural champagne shade and I imagine it would suit a lot of skin tones. The chubby stick shape makes it easy to dot along the cheeks and blend out, and it sets to a powder finish.
L.A. Girl Velvet Contour Stick in Suede* | NZD $12.00 via. Beauty Bliss
To go hand in hand with the above highlighter, I, of course, had to get one of the contour shades. There are again a couple of different shades to choose from. Suede is quite dark and initially goes on looking a bit scary but once blended it leaves a natural, matte looking contour. This shade is a touch more orange toned than it is ashy (which often works better for a contour) but for bronzing the face, especially around the temple and hairline, this works a treat. I'm so impressed with these!
TheBalm Frat Boy Shadow/Blush | NZD $29.00 via. Beauty Bliss
This already cropped up in my Most Loved November because I have been using it so much since I got it last month. I'm such a fan of TheBalm products and this blush has been on my wishlist for so long, and I'm glad to have it in my collection. The matte peachy/pink shade suits my skin tone really well and I find the powder is fine and blends well on the skin.
Too Faced Love Flush 16-Hr Blush in Love Hangover | AUD $41.70 via. Beauty Bay (ship to NZ)
My parents actually bought this for me while they were over in Hawaii as I was so desperate to get my hands on one of these gorgeous heart shaped blushes! You may have read already in my Most Loved that I have a soft spot for it and have been using it loads since I got it. It's really pigmented so a light hand is needed, but I love how the powder blends on the cheeks and does last a decent amount of time without fading or becoming patchy.
Essence Longlasting Lipstick in 07 Natural Beauty + 06 Barely There | NZD $5.20 each via. Farmers
I own a couple of these lipsticks already (see more Essence products reviewed here) and was so impressed with the quality I couldn't resist another couple when I was in Wellington earlier in November. Naturally, I was drawn to the more nude shades, and I'm very happy with my choices. The formula is creamy, goes onto the lips easily with great pigmentation. For 5 bucks you can't go wrong.
Essence Lipliner in 08 Red Blush | NZD $2.25 via. Farmers
Every time I find an Essence stand there is always no lip liner left, and now I understand why! At $2 each (I mean, come on!) these are great quality lip liners. I find it a little hard compared to others but it makes for a very crisp and clean line. I could only get my hands on this one shade, but I am going to try and hunt down them all!
Essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops | NZD $4.50 via. Farmers
As an avid nail painter, I am always drawn to top coats that promote fast or quick drying, so when I saw these drops I had to try them out. To be honest I'm yet to use them properly but will definitely report back when I do. They say to use 1-2 drops from the pipette and it should help to dry the polish in seconds - a very bold claim!
Karen Murrell Natural Lipstick in Peony Petal* | NZD $29.95 via. Beauty Bliss
By now you must know that I am quite a fan of the Karen Murrell lipsticks and own a fair few of the shades (I really need to do an updated swatch post!) Peony Petal is a great summer shade, and the natural, moisturising formula keeps the lips hydrated as well. Plus they're designed to not melt in the heat like other lipsticks do, so definitely good ones to take on summer holidays!
Chi Chi Viva La Diva Matte Lipstick in Sex Bomb | NZD $22.99 via. Farmers
The lipstick I've been reaching for the most lately is this shade from Chi Chi. It's actually my very first Chi Chi lipstick, and it definitely won't be my last. The matte formula is richly pigmented, glides on so easily and doesn't dry out the lips, and lasts so well too. If you've used these before, let me know what shades you like, or think I might need to pick up soon.
Blistex Happy Lips Super Smooth Lip Balm SPF 15 in Mango + Strawberry* | NZD $5.99 via. The Warehouse + pharmacies
I was sent these last month and wanted to share them because I think they will be great for summer especially since they are SPF15. The scents are also extremely perfect for the warmer months, and they also would make great stocking fillers!
