CAN A MEN'S POST SHAVE BALM REALLY WORK AS A PRIMER?

So you might be reading this and thinking 'Has Cass gone totally crazy?', and the answer is yes, I think I have because using this Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm* as a makeup primer actually works! You might need to hear me out on this one, but believe me, next time you are in the supermarket grab a bottle and check it out for yourself (or if you have a boyfriend who uses it, sneak a bit of his to try...) 

First question you might be thinking is how on earth did girls start using this as a primer? Well it's all thanks to YouTube beauty guru NikkieTutorials April Hits video, where she mentioned that she was using this as a primer. I was skeptical at first, but hearing her thoughts on it definitely made me want to give it a go. It claims that it is a balm, but really it feels more like a light lotion, but be warned, it definitely has a very manly aftershave sort of scent to it (which I don't mind), but it doesn't linger on the skin so you won't be smelling it throughout the day. 

I basically slather this on my face before foundation and let it sink into the skin and I find that it actually does help in reducing the redness in my skin. The main thing I also love about it is that whatever products you apply over top, especially liquid foundation goes on to the skin so smoothly and evenly compared to other primers I have used. The ingredient in it that makes it so good as a primer. as Nikkie says, is glycerin - it helps to attract moisture to the skin and anything you put on top of it latches onto it. I've noticed that when I use this as a primer my makeup really lasts a lot longer than usual. I still get oily in my t-zone (very common for me), but it's nowhere near as bad if I don't use it. Other bonuses include it being very cheap (under $15, or only NZD $11 on iHerb), it's great for sensitive skin and it has no alcohol or silicon in like many other primers. 

If you struggle to keep your makeup in place throughout the day, I seriously recommend trying this - don't be put off by the fact that it says it's for men!
