SMASHBOX | Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquers - Review + Swatches

SMASHBOX // Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquers | Review + Swatches - CassandraMyee

Smashbox is a brand that I hadn't used anything from until I started blogging, although it's a brand I was always interested to try out. My first piece of makeup from them was the Fade To Black Photo-Op Eyeshadow Palette (review and swatches here), which I use a lot and think it's a great palette. Since then I have got more and more Smashbox products and was even lucky enough to be sent two of the new Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquers* which I'll be reviewing for you today.

Smashbox definitely know what they're doing when it comes to makeup; they're eyeshadows are awesome (see the Full Exposure Travel Palette here), and they are a highly trusted brand around the globe. Now I love a good lip lacquer, but I tend to always go for matte lip lacquers, so these were a bit of a stretch for me personally. Don't get my wrong there is a lot to love about these ones. They have good pigmentation (not totally opaque though) and go on smoothly to the lips with an almost jelly type feel to them. The doe-foot wand pools product in the middle and the sponge helps to spread it evenly.

I was expecting these to have a bit of tack to them, but thankfully they are stick free and feel very comfortable on the lips. Dubbed a 'long-wear' lacquer, I thought that they would dry down on the lips, but they have an intense gloss and shine to them. For me, it's a little bit too much, so I tend to load the colour onto my lips but then use a tissue to blot it down. This helps to prevent heavy transferring of the lip colour and I personally think it looks a lot better that way. If you are a gloss fan though, these will be right up your street but do expect transferring of colour. They live up to their long-wearing claim though and even once most of the colour has rubbed off after a few hours, I find that they leave a nice stain/tint to the lips that can be hard to remove!

I have three shades, two that I was sent, and the smaller sample one that I was actually given as a freebie from Macy's in Seattle. Coral is a beautiful watermelon shade, Pink Social is a corally pink, and the brightest of the bunch, Orange Crush is like Fanta in lip lacquer form and is the only one from the three with a shimmer running through it. I've not been brave enough to wear the orange shade out of the house yet, but the other two are much more in my ball park.

There are 20 shades available in the range and you can find them at Smashbox counters at selected Life Pharmacies around NZ for $50.00 each, or online via Smashbox NZ.

Have you tried these Be Legendary Lip Lacquers? What shade would you pick?
