As soon as it was released that Real Techniques would be following up from last Christmas's Sam's Picks Brush Set (review here), I knew I would be buying it as soon as it came out online. This set is everything I had hoped and more; the packaging, the shiny silver handles, the new exclusive brushes - this set has it all!
I'm sure if you are reading this, you'll be familiar with Real Techniques created by Youtuber sisters, Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo. I got into these brushes early last year and since then I've not looked back. The brushes are extremely high quality, very soft, and when cleaned look as good as new. I have a lot of the RT brushes already, but it was a no brainer that I would be buying this set!
THE BRUSHES
The set comes with five brushes, two of which can be found in other sets, with three completely new brushes.
Duo-fibre Cheek Brush | This originally comes in the white-handled Duo-Fiber Collection (review on that here), and I really like this brush for light powdering or bronzing. The duo-fibre bristles mean that it doesn't pick up too much product, so you can really build up colour, or powder and this brush helps to blend it all out well.
Cheek Brush | This is a set exclusive and one I was really excited to have! As you can see in the image below, this is it compared to the Multi-Task Brush from the Travel Essentials Set, it a touch smaller and more domed shape with denser, shorter bristles. I've been loving this blush at the moment, but I think it would make a good brush for a quick contour too.
Angled Shadow Brush | Another set exclusive, this might just be my favourite from the lot. It is perfect for adding colour into the crease of the eye, it fits in their perfectly, deposits colour and blends it out all at the same.
Base Shadow Brush | Perhaps my second favourite is this eye brush, originally from the Starter Set. This is the perfect brush to dust colour on the lid and pack on the shimmer.
Eyeliner Brush | The third set exclusive, and one that is great for eyeliner, or even as a brow brush. The bristles are short and dense, but still, have enough movement that makes it very easy to work with.
Comparison of the set exclusive Cheek Brush and the Multi-Task Brush (excuse the dirtiness; the brushes need a wash!)
So if the silver handles alone haven't been enough to tempt you, this post might just! I don't think I could rave enough about Real Techniques, they really just hit the nail on the head, plus they are so affordable. You can purchase this either from Real Techniques here or from iHerb (like I did) for USD $30.00.
Have you bought the Nic's Picks set yet? What is your favourite brush?
