unboxing
On Tuesday I posted my End of Month review for the July Goodie Box and mentioned that the August box had been delivered. It was unexpected as I thought I had cancelled it but it turns out I hadn't cancelled before the cut off date. I'm not too bothered about it and this box does look like a promising one! This service is only available in NZ and costs $33.50 (including shipping), it is delivered at the end of each month, hence why I this is the August box, but it is actually September!
Obviously last months bright pink box was a one off and they are back to the brown box with a pink cardboard slip. I quite like this packaging and find the boxes so handy for storing things in (I could probably write a whole DIY post on the various uses for subscription boxes!)
This month there is a total of six products in the box; two full sized, and four sample sized. I am a bit disappointed to only see one makeup item among the six - but it is from Revlon so it makes up for it (... a little bit).
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 020 Lovesick // [RRP $22.50 (2.7g)]
I am all for these lip crayons/chubby sticks and own a number from various brands. I have a few of the relatively new Matte + Lacquer balms from Revlon but have not tried the original Balm Stains, until now! The colour of the one I got is perfect so I know I will get a lot of use from it.
EcoStore Extra Nourishing Body Lotion // [Full Size RRP $15.00 (220ml)]
I've used some shampoo and conditioner from EcoStore but wasn't too impressed with them so I hope this body lotion will change my mind. It's a NZ brand, and their products are all made without chemicals, parabens or synthetic dyes, so they should be great for your body.
Angel Professional Argan Active Oxygen Instant Repair Shampoo & Conditioner // [Full Size RRP $29.95 each (300ml)]
It is nice to see familiar brands in this box and I have used some samples from Angel that have come in other subscription boxes and really liked them. These 8ml sachet samples are from their Argan oil line and I'm sure we all know how great argan can be for the hair. There are two of each (shampoo and conditioner).
Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes // [Full Size RRP $9.50 (25 wipes)]
Face wipes samples, although practical, aren't really the types of things I want to see in my beauty boxes. At least I have used these ones before and they were some of the better ones I have used, so that's a plus! You get 7 wipes in this pack and it would actually be a great one to travel with.
Glamourflage Halo Helen Facial Cleanser // [RRP $22.50 (100ml)]
The 'sneak peek' for this August box was the option of two products from the brand Glamourflage. I've never seen nor heard about the brand, but I'm happy that this is a full sized product so I can really get a feel for it. It has a light scent of green apple and is apparently 'loaded with the goodness of natural oils' - I'm looking forward to seeing how this cleanser performs!
Comvita Manuka Pure Hydrating Night Moisturiser // [Full Size RRP $55.00 (50ml)]
The last product is again from a brand I have never heard of - Comvita. It is made in NZ and this Manuka Pure range is brand new and apparently we are the first to try it out. This is a 15ml sample of their Night Moisturiser for dry skin - my skin is more oily/combination so this might be a bit too heavy but I will give it a go.
Overall I am pretty happy with the box and think it is much more impressive than last months 'Birthday Box', I do wish there was more makeup and less skincare, but that is what you get in a 'mystery' style subscription box. The value is approximately $70.00, so $40 on top of what I paid - not too bad at all! At the end of four weeks I will have my reviews on each product as per, for now let me know if you have used any of these product and what you thought about them. Did you get the August box?
