MUA [MAKE UP ACADEMY] | New Luxe Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer Shades

New releases from brands are always so exciting and this particular one from MUA has been much anticipated by me! I have a lot of love for the recent Luxe line of products that they released late last year, and these Velvet Lip Lacquers are up there with some of my favourite lip products. I have the first drop of shades they made and a couple of months ago they announced four new shades that would be added to the line, and I was pretty darn excited!

The four new shades were first released into Superdrug (you lucky UK peeps!) and I was constantly checking the MUA website so I could finally get them! A couple of weeks ago the email came through to say they were online for order and within 10 minutes my order was done and dusted!

I have given the first five a thorough review already and these are no different, so I'll keep this one short and simple. You. Need. These.

Ok, I'll give you a little more than that! Basically these are along the lines of many other matte lip products such as the Limecrime Velvetines, Hourglass Opaque Rogues etc., they're in lacquer form with a doe foot applicator. They glide on easily and extremely opaque in colour and it is best to work in thin layers. Within 3-4 minutes they dry down to a totally matte finish, don't transfer and last for around 4-5 hours. They can get a bit flakey a few hours, and if you have lips that are prone to drying these might not be the best product. Apart from that I think these are incredible, especially for the super cheap price!

I love the simplicity of the packaging; they're nice and slim with a frosted glass exterior and black lid. The four new shades include two brown nudes and two shades of pinks and are colours that I wear on a daily basis.

HALCYON // In the tube, Halcyon and Tranquility look fairly similar, and the swatches on the website made them look almost identical, but they're definitely different. This one is more of a darker brown nude, with red/pink undertones.

TRANQUILITY // Compared to Halcyon this is clearly the lighter of the two nude shades. It is true brown nude shade.

SERENE // I absolutely adore the two pink shades; this one is a lighter, creamy, pastel pink.

A FLUSH // I think this can only be described as a hot Barbie pink shade.

How amazing do the whole set of nine shades look all lined up? The four new shades are perfect Spring Summer colours and are great additions to the more intense darker shades from the initial release.

Not only do these lip lacquers look amazing they have an amazing price, coming in at only £3.00, which is just under $6 NZD! MUA ship worldwide, but it does cost £7.50 to ship to NZ (around $14.00), but these lacquers are well worth it, especially if you are after some cheaper alternatives to the more pricey matte lip creams out there.
