It has been a while since I have done an old school haul post, so I thought I would share a few things I have acquired over recent months and share my thoughts on them as I have been using them over this time. Even though I am lucky to get sent a variety of different products to try, I still love buying beauty and makeup products and always get a thrill when I peruse the beauty isles (both online and in stores!)
The first two products are base related - I went to Farmers to get a new bottle of my favourite Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation but they didn't have my shade so I thought I would give the TruBlend Matte Made Foundation a go. Shaaanxo had recently done a video where she used the new TruBlend Base Business Skin Primer for Pore Minimizing and she had some good things to say about it so I also bought that at the same time. The Primer is really great, the purple tone gives a light layer of colour correction and it does work to smooth the skin and provides a great base for foundation. Unfortunately, the foundation, although described as 'matte' still made a bit oily and got a bit cakey on me throughout the day. I am going to try this more in winter when it's not as hot and I'm not getting sweaty!
Over the Christmas period, I was in my hometown of Christchurch and went to a small mall that is local to my parent's home. The pharmacy there always has a good range of makeup and at the time they had a huge sale on heaps of luxe makeup brands such as YSL, Clarins, and Lancome. I managed to score this Lancome Juicy Shaker in the shade Piece of Cake for 50% off which means it was only about NZD $22! I was so stoked as I have one other shade (Boom Meringue) and love the formula, and this shade was on my wishlist to get. I like that this one has a bit more colour pigment to it, it smells delicious and feels so nice on the lips.
If you haven't ordered or browsed on iHerb before, you are seriously missing out. I have been buying from them for years and they have really stepped it up in their beauty section and now stock Pixi Beauty. I have used the OG, and much loved, Glow Tonic in the past so I knew I would probably like the newly released Rose Tonic which came in this limited edition packaging for the holidays. The Rose Tonic can be used morning and night as your toner and has a lovely scent of rose and elderflower. It helps to balance the pH in your skin whilst calming the skin. I have used about half of this bottle so far and am enjoying it.
The final product in my mini haul is this beautiful Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Twinkle EDT that has been getting a lot of use from me over the Summer months. It was a lovely Christmas gift from a very generous secret santa and now joins my growing collection of Daisy Dream perfumes (I have and love the original and the Blush version). It is a very sweet and floral scent with fruity notes - perfect for this time of year in NZ!
And that's it for my old school beauty haul - I am definitely going to do more of these as I love having a nosy at what other people are buying and if they are actually liking the products!
