I have been a bit of a slack blogger and haven't been getting my posts up as quick as I would like. When I saw on the Wet N Wild New Zealand Instagram page that the limited edition Midnight Mermaid collection was going to be leaving shelves next week I felt so bad that I hadn't got this post up, so nothing like a last minute write up! It is such an amazing collection though and I definitely wanted to share it with you all. For those who get into Halloween, or like bold and unique shades, the Midnight Mermaid Collection might just be for you.
The Midnight Mermaid collection takes inspiration from mermaids with a small capsule collection of Liquid Lipsticks, Metallic Liquid Shadows and a Highlighter. Everything is very metallic with a lot of shimmer and duochrome goodness going on.
First up we have four shades of ColorIcon Metallic Liquid Eyeshadows* (NZD $12.99 each). These come in a lip gloss sort of tube with a flat sponge applicator. Each shade has a black base to it and they are all super metallic. These go on quite wet but set down on the eyelids. The formula can be a bit streaky so it's best to apply in layers and build up the intensity. They work well as an eyeshadow base or a topper over another shadow, especially if you had a black base; it would make these even more intense and beautiful than they already are. There are four shades available; Lara's Necklace (green), Moonlight Majesty (purple), Mysterious Nights (grey/black) and Aquatic Prism (blue).
I think the star of this collection is the MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Matte Lipsticks* (NZD $12.99). They come in a very similar tube to the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks and even have a very similar applicator to them, but are half the price. These have a light almost mousse-like texture to them when you first apply them but set down to be totally matte. These shades are super rich in pigmentation and very bold. The shades available are Coral Crown (brown/copper), Sea Seduction (blue), Siren's Jewel (green), and Harbor A Crush (red).
The final item in this collection is the MegaGlo Highlighting Bar in Under The Midnight Sea* (NZD $14.99). This is a super unique highlighting shade and has a duochrome flip to it. It has a green hint to it but also has very fine bits of pink/purple shimmer through it. Although I don't think this is for everyone it fits the mermaid theme so well and I think for something different it is really interesting. The formula is smooth and buttery and blends well.
If you are out doing some Labour Weekend Sale shopping in NZ, definitely head into Farmers and nab something from this collection before it leaves shelves for good!
