Word on the street is that TheBalm will be launching In The Balm Of Your Hand Greatest Hits Volume 2 in the coming weeks in NZ, so what better time to share with you all Volume 1. TheBalm is well known for their quirky and unique packaging, and they always have fun with the names of the products. I have tried quite a few things from TheBalm (their blushes are amazing, and Mary-Lou Manizer is one of the best highlighters), and this palette is a fantastic way to try a wide range of products from the brand, all in one handy palette.
The palette comes in a long skinny palette with some of their iconic packaging images on the front of it. It has a magnetic closure, and a mirror inside also. What I really like about this product is that there are two cream products (for lips and cheeks), but they are housed under their own separate flap so you won't get powders in the cream pans and vice versa. I've had palettes that have creams and powders beside each other before and it's a messy recipe for disaster.
The palette has a bit of everything. First off there are three blushes; Hot Mama, Instain Longwearing Staining Blush, and Cabana Boy - all of which I have been wanting to try. Hot Mama is a lovely peach shade with a glitter shimmer throughout, the Instain Blush is a bright pink that definitely leaves you with a stain on the cheeks (not in a bad way!) and Cabana Boy is a lot darker and more berry toned with some shimmer in it. Next down the line is Bahama Mama, a matte bronzing powder. All of these pans are a mini size so you will need a smaller brush than usual to get into the pans.
Now onto the eyeshadows - there are four shades from three different palettes they have released. From the Shady Lady Palette, you get Insane Jane (a duochrome gunmetal silver), and Mischevious Marissa (a light copper gold). From The Nude'Tude Palette you get the shade Sexy (a matte burgundy), and from the Balm Jovi, the shade Lead Zeppelin (dark shimmery olive). These are all super pigmented and unique shades compared to the usual neutral browns.
The last one in the powder section is the highlighter that everyone should own - Mary-Lou Manizer. I have had this in a full sized pan for a few years and it has a major dip out of it. A feat, considering you only need a small amount on the brush for ultimate impact. It's shimmery champagne goodness that looks like a cream when applied to the cheeks.
There are two creams in the palette, which can be used as blushes, and lipsticks. First up is the shade Caramel from the How 'Bout Them Apples palette and the shade Mia Moore which is one of their TheBalm Girls Lipsticks. They're a nice addition to the palette whether you want to go for a more natural look, or something more bright.
