I love it when my favourite affordable brands come out with new products, and recently L'Oreal have added a few new things to their lineup. The new Eye Paints* are a different product for L'Oreal that promises bold colour and the ability to blend them seamlessly, but have they lived up to this?
I am a fan of cream shadows, although I do reach for powder shadows more often than not. The cream shadows have got to be pretty good to get me to use them on the regular. These new Eye Paints have proved they are darn good and work well by themselves or as an eyeshadow base. The packaging is quite simple and small. With a simple twist off lid that holds the applicator and a clear tube so you can clearly see what colour you are reaching for.
The NZ shade range is limited to only 6 (the one missing here is Eternal White), but in the US and UK, they have a lot more shades to chose from. The shade range is a little odd, but that's what you get when you only have 6 to chose from. I do this most of these are easily wearable and would suit most people. These paints have a liquid to powder formula - they apply with quite a thick consistency but sheer out a bit once you blend onto the lid. A little bit goes a long way and I find two dots or a quick swipe on the lids and then blended with a dense fluffy brush gives good colour pay off. The brown and black shades have very little shimmer in them so they can work as a liner, but also make a good 'glue' for putting pigments and glitters on top. The blue, khaki, and pink have more of a metallic finish to them. Once they dry to a powder, the Eye Paints are hard to budge and don't crease up and fade throughout the day. The formula makes them easy to work with and it's also easy to build up the colour saturation.
