Let me introduce you to a brand new brand, Nu Colour Makeup by Nu Skin. I am lucky that through this blog I get to try out a lot of varied brands, some very popular ones, and then others which are new, or just launching into NZ. I had to do a bit of research to find out what the deal was with this brand, and it's quite an interesting one.
The brand is a multi-level marketing company from the US, which focus on anti-aging skincare, dietary supplments and now have launched a small selection of makeup. Although I am not a fan of the whole pyramid scheme selling, Nu Skin doesn't seem to be pushing itself on anyone and I was approached by someone directly at the brand rather than a seller or distributor.
The product range is small, but it has most things you could want in the face, eyes and lips category as well as a small selection of brushes. All the products include anti-ageing ingredients including, Sepilift, a plant derived oil that prevents wrinkles and stimulates collagen; Mulberry Root Extract, has antioxidants that brighten and improve uneven skin tone; Kahai Oil, naturally rich in Vitamin E, F and retinol; and Hylurosmooth, a botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid to plump the skin and fill in fine lines and wrinkles. It's not often you have a makeup brand which claims to have these sorts of anti-ageing properties included.
Nu Colour Lightshine 5 Colour Eyeshadow Palette | $76.00
At $76, this isn't your run of the mill eyeshadow palette, and to my surprise, the shadows are really high quality and have good pigmentation. There are three different shades available, and pictured here is Violet Breeze, with hints of purple, but some more workable shades included too. The packaging itself is definitely different, with a sleek white and silver exterior and a large mirror inside, with two little brushes and sponge applicators. The five shades vary in finishes, with a couple of mattes and some shimmer tones which I always like to see in an eyeshadow palette. They are nice to work with and last well with no fading or creasing. I think the price is a bit steep for me personally, but with the anti-ageing ingredients included, it's not a surprise that they can bump up the price.
LightShine Sheer Lipsticks | $38.95 each
I love trying out new lipsticks from different brands and was definitely drawn in like a magpie by the shiny silver packaging! Annoyingly though, these bullets are quite wide so they don't fit in your regular lipstick holder! That aside I was expecting a sheer lipstick, but as soon as I swatched them I was pretty surprised to see the pigmented. I don't know why they market these are sheer because they are the total opposite and I am not complaining about that. I was sent two shades, Raspberry Pink and Ginger Red, both every bold and vibrant shades. They lipsticks have a creamy texture and finish, apply easily, but they do transfer. They do last a while though and because of the strong pigment, you are left with a slight tint to the lips.
You can purchase their products directly on the Nu Skin website and they ship worldwide from what I can tell. They have an extensive (and slightly confusing) selection of skincare and body care products that promise some huge anti-ageing claims. I think the makeup is nice, but a bit pricey.
What do you think of these products and the brand?
