EMPTIES | January '17 - CassandraMyee

Another month has flown by already, so it is time to review all of the products I finished during the month of January. The bag in my bathroom that is purely dedicated to my empty products (it must look so strange to visitors) was getting rather full, also helped that I had a little bathroom clean out as well.

L'Oreal Professional TechniArt Morning After Dust*
A good dry shampoo is one that is invisible in the hair, and this one was just that. I really enjoyed it and found it a bit more lightweight compared to Batiste for example. It had a fine spray and was virtually undetectable in my darker hair but did a great job at absorbing excess oil and freshening up the hair.

Garnier Fructis Full & Luscious Texturing Spray
I would love to try the famed Oribe Dry Texturing Spray but can't bear to pay that much for a glorified hair spray, so I have been trying out some more affordable options. This one was really good, it didn't give a lot of hold, but you could get some good texture and volume from it. I would definitely repurchase this.

Holistic Hair Hydrating Shampoo*
I talked about the matching condition in my last Empties, and I finished this just a couple of days into January. As a shampoo, it certainly cleaned the hair well but left me a bit tangly, so a good conditioner after was a must for me. As a duo, they worked well and if you are into all natural and NZ made, you should check out the Holistic range.

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Shower Gel*
This was definitely my favourite range that The Body Shop brought out last year as it smelled so delicious with extracts of pineapple and coconut (almost good enough to drink...) Their shower gels always do a great job at cleaning the body as they should, but the scents are what gives them an edge over others.

Neutrogena Hand Cream* + Foot Cream*
These have been basically empty and sitting in my bedside table drawer for far too long. I feel like the Hand Cream is a classic, it is extremely thick and very rich and a little bit goes a long way. If you use too much I find it very hard to rub in. I opted for this one at night as it takes a while to sink into the skin. The Foot Cream wasn't as thick as the Hand Cream but was very moisturising and used regularly this helped the dry areas I had on my feet.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Apologies that this isn't clean, but it was going straight into the rubbish after I had finished taking the photo. I have been through countless sponges from Real Techniques and they are my sponge of choice that I use every single day. I love how it blends out cream products so seamlessly and helps to really push the product into the skin for a more flawless finish.

The Body Shop Silky Camomile Cleansing Oil
If there is one skincare product that I would not be without, it would be some kind of cleansing oil or balm and this one from The Body Shop has been a long time favourite and cupboard staple. It's a lightweight oil that breaks down makeup on dry skin as soon as you start to rub it in. It doesn't leave any oily residue once you wipe away with a damp cloth but removes most traces of makeup with ease. The pump bottle is also very handy to dispense the perfect amount of product (a little goes a long way).

Dr. Lewinn's Eternal Youth Luminosity Day & Night Cream*
Everyone is about the glow right now, and there are so many products, both skincare and makeup to help give you that natural glow that we all desire. I hadn't really used anything from Dr. Lewinn's previously, but really enjoyed this Cream. I typically used it at night as it felt quite rich on the skin, although it was light. It had very obvious glittery/shimmery particles in the cream which helps to boost the glow factor. My skin definitely agreed with it and I would recommend to anyone who is after a bit more life to a dull complexion.

LUSH Santa's Lip Scrub
It's sort of embarrassing to admit how long I have had this for sitting in the back of my cupboard half used, so it was about time it hit the trash. This one was cola flavoured and tasted and smelt amazing. It's just a basic sugar scrub which helps to exfoliate the lips and was a great step to use before applying a matte lipstick so that it doesn't emphasise any dry, flaky areas.

Garnier Pure Active Intensive 3-in-1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead Wash/Scrub/Mask*
This product was mainly used by my boyfriend aka. on hand male product tester. I did, however, use it a few times as I wanted to see how I got on with it. The BF seemed to like it, although he isn't overly picky with things like skincare, but I could definitely notice a difference in the lack of blackheads or breakouts he had while using this. It comes out as a very scary black liquid, and the scrub isn't too intense but it gives a really deep clean to the skin.

Maybelline Eye + Lip Makeup Remover x2
This stuff is always in my Empties because it is the best eye makeup remover ever. See past Empties from the last 2 years as each month I say how much I love this stuff!
