ESSENCE | New Spring/Summer Makeup Launches for 2016/2017

ESSENCE | Spring/Summer Makeup for 2016/2017 - Review + Swatches - CassandraMyee

Essence Cosmetics have got to be one of the most affordable brands available at the moment that produce high-quality beauty products. I have been a fan of Essence since I first tried one of their blushes and mascaras and always love seeing what new things they bring out. Each season they release new, on-trend products and everything in their range is less than NZD $10 each! Here are some of their latest releases for Spring/Summer.

Camouflage 2-in-1 Makeup + Concealer Foundation* | NZD $8.50
Essence offers a few different options when it comes to foundation and base products - this new edition combines the best of both worlds with a high coverage formula that aims to be your foundation and concealer. It comes in 3 shades, with 10 Ivory Beige being the lightest. It is actually a bit too light for me, so great for fair/pale skins, but not so great for darker complexions. I find the coverage to be medium to full, but it did settle into some lines and area on my chin which didn't look too good. I need to try it with different primers to really see how it goes. It did last though on my skin throughout the day.

Satin Touch Blush in Satin Coral* | NZD $5.65
If you have not used the Essence blushes, you have got to try them out. The Satin formula has a slight sheen to it, but it isn't like chunky glitter, instead, I find it gives such a nice glow to the cheeks. There are 3 shades available, but this coral is beautiful for the warmer months.

Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette in 10 Ready, Set, Glow!* | NZD $8.95
It's great to see a highlighting trio available from an affordable brand and these really surprised me with how buttery they feel. Again like the blush, the shimmer isn't over the top and they blend into the skin well, if not a bit too subtle! The three shades include a soft pink, classic pearl white and more golden champagne.

Rock 'N' Doll Crazy XXXL Volume Mascara* | NZD $6.30
Essence mascaras are so, so good, and this one is definitely up there. The brush is pretty large, and it gives the lashes loads of volume and density.

The False Lashes Mascara Dramatic Volume Unlimited* | NZD $6.30
Out of the two new mascaras, this one is definitely my pick and I have been using it religiously; basically every day. It gives such good length and separation to the lashes as well as volume. It also doesn't transfer or smudge very easily. For $6 this might be one of the best mascara you could buy!

Rock 'N' Doll Duo Stylist Eyeliner Pen* | NZD $5.65
When I first opened the lid for this liquid liner I was surprised to see the ball tip, it is actually a very good idea though and makes for some more interesting eyeliner looks. You can create dots for some liner art, or use these as a guide when creating winged liner. When you use the side of the ball you can get a thinner line as opposed to the tip of the nib which is a bit thicker.

Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil in 05 Rockin' Taupe* | NZD $4.50
After trying this liner I really need to get some of the other shades they have; there are 6 others in your traditional eye pencil shades and two others which have this metallic finish. The pencil is so creamy and easy to apply and it works greatly smudged along the lash line.

Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lip Gloss in 01 La Vie Est Belle + 03 Girl of Today* | NZD $5.20
I don't know why they called these lip glosses because it totally contradicts the matte part, but these are, in fact, matte liquid lipsticks with no gloss what so ever. They have a very smooth and light mousse-like texture to them which feels quite different from many others I have tried. They don't go completely matte on the lips; they have a more satin finish that doesn't set, but lasts a while and is comfortable. There are 6 shades available.

Matt Matt Matt Lipstick in 07 Purple Power + 02 Perfect Match* | NZD $5.20
If you saw my Most Loved for December '16, you would have seen the shade Perfect Match pop up there because I just love this formula and that particular shade too. They are more of a satin finish but are very smooth and pigmented when you apply them. They wear about 4 hours before I need to touch it up. Definitely, would recommend checking this range of lipsticks out and there are 7 shades to choose from.

The Gel Nail Polish in 83 Pretty Cool Life* | NZD $3.60
You might be thinking a nail polish for under $4 can't be that amazing right? Well, these Gel polishes are actually very good. On my nails is only one coat and you get fully opaque colour. It did start to chip around the 4-day mark, but with another coat and perhaps a better topcoat they may last a lot longer. There are heaps of different shades to choose from too.

There are loads of new products being released from Essence all the time and I am so glad we can now get the brand easily in NZ. They are stocked in selected Farmers and you can also find a selection of products online from Price Wise Direct and in their physical stores.
