EMPTIES | September '16 (It's a big one...) - CassandraMyee

Every single month, I am always left surprised by how many products I finish up. Last month I seemed to finish an excessive amount of things all at once! It also was helped along by the fact that I had a big clean out and I've included some products that had to go in the bin (a bit of old makeup!) So prepare for a longish post, or skip to certain products to see what I thought of them.

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Foundation in 110
This has fast become my go-to foundation all day er'day! I use this all the time now and recently bought two more tubes of it while The Warehouse had Covergirl on offer for buy one get one free (such a score!) This foundation is only $20, it lasts so well on my oily skin, gives medium/full coverage that is buildable and blends well too. It ticks all the boxes for me and I seriously suggest giving it a shot if you have oily skin.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in 103 True Ivory
This used to be one of my go-to foundation, but lately, I have found myself neglecting it, plus this tube was basically empty and taking up space in my storage. The texture is a mousse, but it doesn't look or feel too cakey on the skin. I think the reason I stopped using it was that it would leave me looking a bit greasy too quickly throughout the day.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Mega Plush Mascara
I opened this one up while I was clearing out my makeup and realised I probably should have thrown this out a little ago as it was looking remarkably dry. I had got a lot of use out it and did enjoy it as an everyday mascara. I reviewed this a little while back (see it here) and it's a pretty good mascara, but nothing really wowed me. There are definitely better ones in the Maybelline range (i.e. the Lash Sensational which is one of my faves at the moment).

Living Nature Thickening Mascara*
Another dried up mascara in my drawers and sadly one I didn't get much use out of as it was a bit too natural for me (I like a bit more drama). You can read my review on it here, and my thoughts haven't changed much since then. On the plus side, Living Nature is a completely natural, cruelty-free NZ brand that is worth checking out for their other products.

Rimmel Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara
And yet another dried up mascara... but one I really loved and would consider repurchasing if I didn't have so many to use as it is! I reviewed this one here, and it gave great volume and length to the lashes. Be warned, though, the wand is really huge and thick, but it coats the lashes well.

L'Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist*
I always used a fixing mist as the final step in my makeup routine and this one is amazing and I have gone out a purchased a brand new bottle. If you have oily skin, you need to try this! The spray basically has a translucent powder in it that sets down your makeup and keep it on your face all day. It's seriously good stuff, and not too pricey at $29.99.

e.l.f. Studio HD Undereye Setting Powder
This product always features in an empties every few months as I use it every single day to set my under eyes. I find this brightens slightly, doesn't look dry and helps to prevent any concealer creasing, plus you can buy it at Kmart (my favourite place to go!)

M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in N5
This was another product that was victim to the clean out, but I had hit pan on it big time so it was about to time to be thrown out. Overall it's a really good powder, gives a lot more coverage to the skin, but could be a bit too heavy for some. I would definitely consider buying it again.

L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder in W2 Light Ivory
Same deal as above - I needed a serious clean out of the powders and this one had been used quite a bit so I decided it was time for it to go. Another good powder, much lighter than the M.A.C one but also gave a hint of coverage over foundation.

Australis Fresh + Flawless Pressed Powder in Natural
Out of the powders in this lot, this one is definitely my favourite one. It's not only cheaper than the others, but is so nice to use, gives coverage without looking cakey and sets foundation down well. They have recently extended the shade range (thank god), as there used to only be 3 shades, now there are some lighter offerings. I have already repurchased this and I will continue to do so!

Madre Labs Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner
While browsing iHerb (as you do) I came across this toner and it was super cheap and on sale at the time so I thought why not give it a go? Witch Hazel is great for those with oily/combination skin and this made for a really good toner! The bottle was massive so it lasted ages (I do still have some decanted into a smaller bottle for travelling, so not technically empty). I would probably buy this again when I do another iHerb order.

Maybelline Eye + Lip Remover [x2]
A Empties staple... two bottles of this down, as usual. I wish they would just make a large bottle, I would buy it in spades. Removes eye makeup so easily, doesn't irritate and is also good for stubborn liquid lipsticks.

Naobay Moisturising Peeling Brightening Facial Milk Scrub*
This product came in a Lust Have It (see it here) and I've been using it on and off since then. It's got the most ridiculously long name, but this is just your average facial scrub that I liked using but was nothing to really rave about. It had a thin clay-like texture, with quite rough particles, so good for a deep clean. It's probably not something I would purchase.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes*
It's always handy having makeup wipes, no matter what any skincare professional says. Sometimes I just wanna be lazy and I think, it's better to take off your makeup in some sort of way right? These were nice to use, did the job well and weren't drying on the skin.

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Hair Repair Deep Repair Serum*
I use a lot of heat on my hair, every single day which isn't ideal at all, so good haircare products are needed. I don't like forking out heaps on hair care (I am a box dye girl from way back) and this Deep Repair Serum is cheap and easy to find at the supermarket and does a really great job. I used this on damp hair before any heat and smoothed a pea-sized amount through the length focusing on the ends and it kept them from looking overly fried. I would definitely purchase.

Johnson's Baby Shampoo
Not for my baby, but for my makeup brushes. This has been my preferred makeup brush cleaner for years; it's cheap, you can get this huge bottle for like $9, and it's gentle on the brushes but gives them a great deep clean. I have already got another bottle tucked away for the next brush cleaning session.

Daiso Detergent for Puff + Sponge
Another makeup brush cleaning essential is this amazing bottle of 'detergent'. If you have trouble getting the foundation out of your makeup sponges, this literally does it in a second flat and gets rid of basically all traces of makeup from the sponge in just one squeeze. It is seriously good and only $3.50 for a bottle, or you can get 3 for $10.

The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel*
The Body Shop know how to do the most delicious scents and the British Rose one is absolutely gorgeous. It came out around Mother's Day and I have only just started using this after getting through some other shower gels and I wish I had used it sooner.

Palmolive Oil Infusions Liquid Hand Wash*
And the final products in this mammoth post is a boring old hand wash, but it's not actually that boring at all. I don't include this sort of thing in here, but I was sent a bunch to try and it is a really nice product so I thought I would include it. The Oil Infusions range comes in these huge bottles (500ml) with natural oils throughout the products to nourish the skin as well as clean and moisturise. The range also has a Body Moisturiser, Soap Bar and Body Wash with various scents. All of them smell really lovely and they are all priced at under $10.
