MANUKA DOCTOR | Purifying Face Mask Review

MANUKA DOCTOR | Purifying Face Mask Review - CassandraMyee

One thing I love doing is treating myself to a good face mask as a bit of pampering and relaxation for my skin. I try to do one at least once a week, sometimes even twice a week depending on how my skin is doing and whether it needs some extra attention. After the hype of the Manuka Doctor ApiClear Purifying Facial Peel Mask* (NZD $35.95), which I absolutely loved and have since finished, I was intrigued to try some of their other masks. The ApiClear Purifying Face Mask* is from the same range as the Facial Peel - aimed at troubled skin/acne prone/oily skin.

MANUKA DOCTOR | Purifying Face Mask Review - CassandraMyee

The ApiClear range is definitely the one for me - I have oily skin and am acne prone so I go for a face mask that is going to detoxify the skin and help clear it, this mask is aimed to do just that. Manuka Doctor uses the ingredient of Purified Bee Venom (PBV), which is antibacterial in nature, and helps to fight blemishes. If you are allergic to bees, it is definitely wise to avoid these products, but I have had no issues with it reacting to my skin. Other ingredients included in this mask is Grape Seed Oil, to clear pores and even the skin tone, Aloe Vera Juice to help with redness and remove oil/dirt from the skin, Witch Hazel, to fight acne, and Kaolin Clay, to draw impurities out from the skin.

Basically this is a clay mask, that once applies begins to dry up on the skin. It doesn't dry up completely, but it does feel like it's giving the skin a deep clean. Although it does have a clay base, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin, rather it has a lighter feel. The one thing about this mask is that the smell isn't so pleasant - it smells pretty strong of something I can't quite put my finger on, but it's not that nice! The smell does seem to dissipate once you have it on the skin, but initially it's intense - if you are sensitive to smell, maybe have a sniff before you buy! Apart from the smell, the mask itself does a good job of purifying the skin and I always find that any spots I have seem to heel up faster after I have used this.

This mask retails for NZD $49.95 for 40ml, and can be brought online, or from stores (there is one in downtown Auckland).
