I don't know where I would be without eyeshadow palettes - they are makeup essentials. Forget single shadows, palettes are where it's at! As a beauty blogger and someone who is just generally interested in makeup, I own quite a few palettes - MAC, Urban Decay, LORAC, TheBalm, Tarte, Zoeva - you name a brand, I probably own one of their palettes. The cheaper drugstore brands aren't really renowned for their palettes, and here in New Zealand, it's hard to find a good quality and relatively affordable eyeshadow palette with versatile colours. But L'Oreal are here to offer us some more options with the release of the La Palette Nude*.
The palettes are all around pretty great. The size is compact and slim, yet you still get 10 shades that vary from mattes to shimmers. Pigmentation wise, these perform well. Some of the shades aren't as pigmented as I might like, but there are others that make up for that. They apply well, and blend well too, but some of the lighter shades do just sort of blend away to nothing if you work them too much. You get a double ended sponge applicator and brush with the palette; the brush isn't terrible, but I would opt for my own brushes to use with it.
01 ROSE
I find myself reaching for this palette quite a lot and love the softer pinks and neutral shades that are included. It gives off a slight Urban Decay Naked 3 vibe, but doesn't quite live up to the quality of those shadows. In this palette, you get five mattes and five shimmers, and there isn't a colour included that I wouldn't/don't use.
02 BEIGE
The second palette includes more warmer tones with bronzes and browns. Again like the Rose, there are five mattes and five shimmer shades and as you can see from the swatches, the mattes have a great colour payoff. The let down I find in this palette are some of the shimmer shades, like the white and light yellow gold shades. This is definitely one just for the matte shadows.
The La Palette Nude's are NZD $35.99 each and can be found at L'Oreal stockists.
Have you used these palettes? Would you go for Rose or the Beige variety?
