ESSENCE COSMETICS | Nauti Girl Trend Collection - Review + Swatches

ESSENCE COSMETICS | Nauti Girl Trend Collection - Review + Swatches - CassandraMyee

If you've not heard of Essence Cosmetics before you are in for a treat. Think affordable, fun, great quality, and did I mention, affordable?! The majority of the range in NZ is under $10, with prices starting at as little as NZD $2.95 for a lip liner. They are often bringing out brand new 'Trend' collections, with the Nauti Girl Collection being at the end of 2015. Because I am a little behind with some posts I hadn't had the chance to get this up sooner and sadly I don't think these products are in stores still. But, I thought I would still share my thoughts on them and chat about the quality and other aspects as you can still get similar products in the range.

Essence began in Europe and was very popular over there, since then they have expanded globally with the launch of Essence in NZ in 2014/2015 into a selection of Farmers stores nationally. My first introduction to the brand was last year in June where I did a big brand overview and talked about some of their range - read it here. The brand is definitely aimed at a younger market, particularly in their marketing images and collections, but personally I think the products are really great quality and they shouldn't be dismissed. They also don't test on animal, which is a big draw card.

Nauti Girl Blush in 01 Anchors Aweigh!* | NZD $6.75
I think their blushes are some of their best products and they often have one included in their regular trend collections. I'm not sure if they are still available but they have ombre blushes which I love and use regularly. This shade fits in with the nautical red, white and blue theme and comes off as a dark coral on the cheeks. You can't fault the pigmentation at all, and you only need to dip your brush in a touch to get an amazing colour pay off.

Nauti Girl Longlasting Lipsticks in 01 Miss Navy* + 02 Crew First* | NZD $5.20 each
A lipstick for $5 is hard to come by, let alone one that is as nice as these! I find their lipsticks to be smooth too apply, and have buildable colour. They certainly aren't the most pigmented or long lasting but I think at $5 you can't go wrong.

Nauti Girl Nail Polish in 02 Oh Captain, My Captain!* | NZD $4.50
From this collection they released four nail polish shades, this gorgeous blue being one of them. I've heard really good things about their Gel polish line, but have only tried this one and the 'I Heart' range. The colour needed two coats to be fully opaque and seemed to dry down quite quickly (although I always go for a fast dry top coat).

Nauti Girl Eyeshadow Palette in 01 Cool Breeze* | NZD $8.55
I didn't know what to expect from this palette but was pleasantly surprised! The pigmentation is actually very good, albeit you do get a little fall out from them. The shade combination isn't something I would reach for often but I think the deeper blue with teal shimmer would be so gorgeous on the lower lash line for a little bit of different smokey eye. The brown shade is my favourite (because I am boring and predictable like that), but overall I like how they blend and the finish they leave.

With a whole host of products available, you should definitely try and track down an Essence stand! For a list of what Farmers in NZ stock Essence, click here.
