L'Oreal is definitely one of my favourite makeup brands, and lately they have been bringing out some amazing new releases. Adding to their extensive line up are some new eye and brow related products that I've been testing out for the past few weeks, so get ready for some reviewin'.
False Lash Butterfly Wings Intenza in Intense Matte Black* | RRP NZD $25.99
I've not used the original Butterfly Wings Mascara, so I can't comment if this really is more intense than the OG, but overall it's pretty decent as mascara's go. The wand is a very funky shape, aimed to really fan out the lashes to give that intense winged looked, and the bristles definitely help that happen. You do have to get it on the right angle though to the lashes, because the bristles on the opposite sides are a bit shorter, and they just tend to add more density and thickness then they do volume. I like that it can be built up with minimal clumping, and gives the lashes a separated and full look.
Smokissime by Superliner in 100 Black Smoke*, 101 Taupe Smoke* + 102 Brown Smoke* | RRP NZD $22.99 each
Out of the three new releases, these Smokissime (pronounced smokey-sim, apparently) Liners are definitely my favourites as they're a really unique product. The soft sponge tip dispenses the product, and it's tapered for a more precise application, with the rounded edges making it easy to blend and 'smoke' out the liner. The formula is like a cream to an almost powdery texture that blends out easily with the sponge, or with a brush so you don't load up on two much product. I love using these on the lower lash line for creating a really grungy dramatic eye. They're easy to work with and the pigmentation is fab, I think if you go for one make it Brown Smoke, it's such a gorgeous bronze.
Brow Artist Genius Kit in 01 Light/Medium* + 02 Medium/Dark | RRP NZD $24.99 each
I am a complete brow obsessor and love trying out new products in hopes of finding something truly awesome. I'm a real pencil girl though; the Anastasia Brow Wiz is everything and it makes doing my brows a breeze, and to be honest I don't really like using kits like these with powder and wax duo. Obviously for the purpose of the blog, I gave it a go and here are my thoughts.
I used Medium/Dark as 01 was too light for me, I found the powder relatively easy to work with and the wax provided good shape and hold to the hairs. However. I couldn't get them as precise and defined as I can with a pencil, which might be a plus for some people who like to keep things natural, or for those who already have quite full brows in the first place and just need a little powder to fill in sparse areas - in that regards I can completely recommend this kit. For those who like things sharp and defined, you might not be too into this though, but for a natural look I would reach for this kit. It also comes with a very cute double ended spoolie and angled brush (which isn't terrible) as well as mini tweezers, which can never go a-miss.
All of these new products are in stores now where ever there is a L'Oreal stand.
Are you excited about these new releases? Anything you are keen to try out or have tried already?
