Sample Bar, a monthly subscription box service, has unfortunately closed down completely but before they did I used up some of my collected 'glam points' in their online store and brought a few things as I had racked up quite a few points. I am bit disappointed however, as I was supposed to receive a Limited Edition Wedding Glam Pack that was an extra box of goodies they had on sale for $15 (down from $40), and it never turned up and now I have no way of actually contacting them or getting my money back! There was also an incident with a broken palette... more on that in a later post. But all negativity aside they threw in a couple of extra sample products that was a nice surprise and I love the things I brought and I wanted to share them.
001. Dermalogica Precleanse [15ml Sample]
This wee sample bottle was from a previous months Glam Pack and I absolutely loved it, so much so that I wrote a whole post dedicated to it. So for more information on this product click here to see my review.
002. Evolu Travel Tower [6 x 10ml Samples]
This was a bonus product thrown in with my order and it is pretty ingenious sample to receive. Each tier (6 in total) has a twist off top, with a pottle filled with a different Evolu product! I have tried Evolu before and really liked it; it is a NZ brand that uses natural ingredients. This travel tower is worth $39.99 and I can't believe this was just thrown in as a bonus from Sample Bar!
The products included are [top to bottom]: Relaxing Creme Cleanser, Renewing Facial Exfoliator, Firming Eye Cream, Anti-Aging Day Cream, Rehydrating Facial Masque and Anti-Aging Overnight Cream. As it is intended, this is going to be brilliant for travel.
003 + 004. Air Repair Super Hydrating Eye Cream [15ml] + Soothing Facial Cleansing Milk [59ml]
These two products were ones I actually paid for (well part paid with glam points) as I had used the eye cream given to me in a previous box and loved it. They were both on sale for $4.50, which is a ridiculously cheap deal, as the Eye Cream is worth USD $19.00 and the Soothing Milk is $10.00. I found the eye cream to be very moisturising but not too heavy that I couldn't use it on a daily basis. It worked great under makeup and a little went a long way so it took me a while to get through the first tube.
005. Ayurda Dew Drop Skin Renewal Moisturiser [15ml Sample]
Another freebie, and another product I had already tried (and I think I still have half a pottle left...]. This is a brand I had not heard of before being able to sample it from Sample Bar. It is 100% natural with all organic ingredients used. The full sized for this moisturer is $79.95 for 125ml. It is quite a thick moisturiser, so would be great for dry skin gals. The scent is quite strong and smells a bit musky and smokey in a way, which I can't decide if I am crazy about or not.
006. Steam Cream in Lucy In The Sky Limited Edition Print [75g Full Size]
In one of my first ever Sample Bar packs I received a tin of this cream and fell in love with it, so much so I reviewed it on my blog - see it here. I couldn't resist that this was only $9.95 on sale, down from around $30, plus the tin design is utterly adorable. The cream is very light weight, but extremely moisturising, has a lovely lavender scent and can be used over the whole body. They have so many tin designs available, so it's worth checking out their website and viewing the selection.
007. Shiseido The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge Enriched [10ml Sample]
The Sample Bar offices must have been overflowing with extra samples, as this was another freebie thrown into my parcel. I again had received this one is a previous month's box, but am happy to have another sample of it as I remember really liking it. It has no heavy scent, quite thick but lightweight once on the skin and leaves the skin feeling so soft the next morning.
008. Twistband Hair Ties [3 bands]
I had seen these around being advertised as creaseless hair ties, which work to an extent to eliminate the dreaded pony tail bump. I got these for $4.50, and you can buy them from the website for USD $5.50. They come in a ton of different colours, the Glam Store had a limited selection but I opted for the pastel set of 3 hair ties. I really like them as they don't feel as though they are really pulling at the hair but keep it in place like a regular hair tie. I do think they are a bit of a novelty, gimmicky thing in a way and you could probably easily make these yourself, but I fell for them and I'm not sorry [#sorrynotsorry].
So I am sad that Sample Bar have closed down, but I'm not sad about these bargains I nabbed and pretty stoked they threw in so many bonus products! If you have tried any of these products, let me know in the comments, and let me know your thoughts on the Twistbands, a waste of money, or not?
