For the first post of 2019, I am kicking it with an eyeshadow palette that I have been loving over the past few months. I am a sucker for the Urban Decay Palettes and I especially love their smaller 'Basics' series of palettes. The Aphrodisiac Eyeshadow Palette takes on the same size and layout of these palettes as well as the newer Naked Petite Heat (review and swatches here) but instead of being all matte like its predecessors this one has a mix of shimmer and matte.
As with other UD palette, the packaging is stunning and I love this colour tones overall. Inside this slim and very travel-friendly palette, you will find six shades; three matte and three shimmers.
It is common knowledge that the Urban Decay eyeshadow's are always going to be high quality and well pigmented. Five out of the six shades in this palette are spot on for me, however, the last darker shade Whiplash was a little drier and it takes a bit more effort to work with. The shades are described as per the Mecca Beauty site as below:
SHEETS | warm nude matte
BEYOND | matte terracotta
NIGHT FEVER | soft rose gold metallic
ADDICT | deep magenta shimmer
GLARE | metallic brown with gold shimmer
WHIPLASH | deep reddish-brown matte - I would say this is much more of a darker eggplant sort of tone, certainly more purple then it is red
My favourite combinations to use are Beyond all over the eyelid and up into the crease with either Night Fever applied directly onto the eyelid or for something a bit darker, Glare looks stunning! I think overall, as a selection of six shades, you can do a quite a few different looks but all within the 'neutral' scope.
I bought mine in NZ from Mecca Beauty for NZD $52. It is limited edition so if this looks like a palette you'd love I would nab it soon!
What do you think of the Aphrodisiac Palette?
