There have been so many new releases from Australian based brand Designer Brands that I honestly can't keep up so be prepared for a couple more posts that may be on the way sharing my thoughts on some new products. Designer Brands is only available in Australia and New Zealand and I have been familiar with this brand for years and years, waaaaay before I started blogging. They seem to really be nailing it lately with so many new on-trend releases, so here are a few...
Matte Velvet Foundation SPF 15* | NZD $19.99
There are not many brands out there in NZ offering foundations for $20, so Designer Brands certainly find its niche there. This has been really hyped up and I am not surprised why after using it. There are only 6 shades which isn't ideal, great if you are light to medium, but nothing really beyond that. The foundation bottle feels a lot more expensive than it is, and it also has a pump! It has a buildable medium to full coverage with a matte finish, but a little more on the satin side, I would say. The coverage is great, but after a full day of wear (8+ hours) I do end up looking a little shiny, but that tends to happen with most foundations for me. I would say it is suited to normal to oily (if you powder and set well).
Lip Cocktail Delicious Lip Scrubs* | NZD $12.99 each
These smell so delicious (you would hope so as it is in the name!) There are four available in various scents; I Want Candy (pink/red), Mad For Maple (not pictured), Butter Up (yellow) and Mint To Be (green). They are sugar based, so taste good as well as giving your lips a good exfoliation.
Lip Stix Creamy Matte + Satin Lip Crayons* | NZD $11.99
I am a big fan of lip products that come in a stick form and I absolutely love the shades in this range. They come in eight different shades and are in a mix of matte and satin finishes. As you can see you get great pigmentation and I really like the matte finishes as they dry down and last on the lips but don't dry out your lips too much. They also have a sneaky sharpener at the base which you just pull out to then use.
Precious Metal Lip Creams* | NZD $12.99 each
Metallic liquid lipsticks are definitely having a moment right now - I don't actually know if people use them all that much but they are very fun. Designer Brands has thrown their offering into the mix with four shades that have a molten metal sort of finish. These dry down totally matte on the lips with minimal transfer and actually look pretty cool, especially the shade Night Orchid which isn't too overtly glittery. I really like the packaging on these just as a side note - it feels a lot more expensive than they are.
Vivid Glow Illuminator Palette in Over The Rainbow* | NZD $17.99
The coloured highlighter trend is still going strong and DB has released two highlighting palette trios, Over The Rainbow (a bit more coloured) and Champagne (which is more neutral). I love the holographic packaging, straight off the bat, I was drawn to it! The highlighters themselves are a little chunky so best applied with a good brush and take the time to blend them out. A damp sponge would also work great with these. There is no denying they are illuminating though!
Blush Up Complexion Palette in Peaches and Cream* | NZD $17.99
I absolutely love blushes and are one of my weaknesses when it comes to makeup. This palette really impressed me, with three gorgeous peachy toned blushes, one of which is matte and the others have a little bit of a glitter to them. There is another trio available called Strawberries and Cream that is more nude and pink toned.
Keep Em' Klean Citrus Brush Cleaner*
As someone who uses their makeup brushes daily, it is so important to keep them clean and in the best condition, you can. This is a quick drying spray that you spray onto a wet brush and either swirl it around on a towel or paper towel to remove product residue - particularly handy for eyeshadows if you want to change shades and use the same brush. It's not a deep clean, but as a daily fix to stop product building up, something like this is handy to have.
Day Dreamer 10 Piece Brush Set* | NZD $34.99
Designer Brands do a lot of really great brush sets and I have one that I use regularly. These are much the same in that they are very soft, with synthetic bristles and contain a good selection of brushes to get the job done: Ultimate Brow Brush, Deluxe Crease Brush, Foundation/Buffing Brush, Tapered Powder Brush, Illuminating/Fan Brush, Large Powder/Blush Brush, Angled Contour Brush, Eye Shadow Blending Brush, Eye Shadow Brush
, and Liner Brush
. I am actually going to be doing a giveaway for this brush set and a couple other Designer Brands products that I was sent as a double up - stay tuned to my Instagram for that.
Phew, now that is a lot of new products and some that I really rate highly! Keep an eye out for my giveaway which I will try and get up in the coming weeks. You can shop Designer Brands online, or in pharmacies around the country.
