COLLECTION COSMETICS | Makeup for Spring/Summer [+ Giveaway!]

COLLECTION COSMETICS | Makeup for Spring - CassandraMyee

With Summer well on its way, it is finally time to bring out those brighter lipsticks and lighter foundations and change up the routine from Winter. I generally stick to similar products throughout the year, but I always like going for a lighter base (I generally end up sweating it off anyway) and cast aside the dark berry lipsticks for something more on the nude side. My blushes get pinker and of course, I whip out a lot of highlighters! Collection has some great products that are not only affordable but will boost your makeup collection to get you set for the warmer months ahead.

Naturally Matt Foundation* | NZD $15.99
As I tend to oily throughout the day, and even oilier in the Summer - I will always reach for a matte finish foundation. This particular one is a good alternative for heavier ones I might reach for in Winter, with the same matte finish but less of the heavy coverage. I would say this is more on the light to medium side, and it has a light mousse-like texture. It blends well onto the skin with a damp sponge. It's not crazy long-lasting as it claims but certainly does the trick and is nothing a little bit of powder can't fix (I love the Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Powder $19.99 at the moment).

Illuminating Touch Concealer* | NZD $16.39
Everyone is about the glow right now, so a concealer that covers as well as gives some life to the skin is a good thing. Although they say you can use on blemishes, I wouldn't as no one wants an 'illuminated' spot! Plus the coverage isn't crazy high on this, instead, I have been using this under the eyes to brighten slightly and to decrease any darkness. I like how it blends and the twist up pen formula makes it easy to apply. The shade 1 Naked (swatch below) has a pink tone to it so helps to counteract darkness, but there is a limited shade range though, as with their other concealers so it will be difficult to get a good match if you have a darker skin tone.

Gorgeous Glow Blush Block* | NZD $16.99
Along similar veins as the Bobbi Brown one, this is a block of five various shades, that can be used individually (need a small brush though) or swirled altogether which produces a lovely pink with golden shimmer throughout. The powder does kick off some fall out, but they all have a good amount of pigment to them. You could use as a blusher (it gives me NARS Orgasm vibes), however, the shimmer might be a bit intense (it is for me, at least), so best used as a highlighter. They work well as eyeshadows too.

Lasting Colour Matte Lipstick in Taffeta Bloom* | NZD $16.50
Surely by now you might know that I particularly like matte lipsticks, so it's good to see a matte formula from Collection Taffeta Bloom is a great shade for Spring and Summer (see all swatches below) and is one of those flattering pinks that will suit many people. It's not too milky, nor is it too bright.  The formula is creamy and it does have a good amount of pigmentation too. The packaging is the same as their other lipstick range, but has a matte black finish rather than the glossy plastic finish, making them easy to distinguish.

Collection has recently repackaged all of their products (see them in this Instagram here), and instead of being in a cardboard stand in the beauty isle at the supermarket, they have their own space on the shelves amongst Maybelline and L'Oreal. I always used to find most of the products were opened and tested, so this is much more hygienic. The packaging is broken up into the three categories; Face (blue), Eyes (green), and Lips (pink). All available at Countdown's across the country.

I am currently holding a giveaway on my Instagram account to win four products from Collection, open to NZ residents only. See below for entry details.

Have you used many Collection products? What do you like to introduce into your Spring/Summer routine?
