In October last year, I wrote a post simply titled 'Losing My Blogging Mojo'. I don't think I planned to publish it nor did I have the guts too, but it was more of a cathartic brain dump for me. Now it's 3 months later and I found the post in my drafts and reading it just made me feel a little sad for myself.  At the time of writing I wasn't feeling my blog at all, but now it's 2019 - I've redesigned my site and I feel SO much more motivated to get back into this and really give it my all (or as much as I can while still keeping a good balance). I am so glad I feel as those I have a bit of my mojo back.

I am sure by now you would have either read it, heard of, seen it, or binge watched Marie Kondo's Tidying Up on Netflix (based on her best selling books Spark Joy (2012) and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (2012)). It is truly a phenomenon and came perfectly timed at the beginning of a new year. My boyfriend actually read the book a couple of years back and he went through the methods at the time which I definitely benefitted from. We now fold our clothes using the KonMari method and utilise a lot of her ideas around parting with things and trying to maintain a relatively clutter-free home. It is without a doubt a daunting process but like many, the end result is worth it and going forward you start to get a much better grasp on what truly 'sparks joy' for you.

I can't quite believe it has been 5 whole years since I hit publish on my very first blog post. I've come a long way since then, not only as a blogger but also in my personal and professional life. I like to think my blog has grown up with me; albeit a slightly bratty and temperamental child at points, I have so much love for this world I have created.

Five years ago I was still studying in my second degree, I had just bought my first proper DSLR camera (the Canon 650D which I still use to this day and can definitely use it much better than I could back then) and I nervously wrote out my first post; an unboxing of a now long gone beauty box subscription service. The photos are embarrassing and even my writing makes me cringe (check out the glow up below!), but I wouldn't change that at all. Everything happens for a reason and those early blog posts, as cringy as they may well be, are all part of the story and part of the growth that is Cassandra Myee. 

You will notice that the majority of my photos I post are 'flatlays', which is blogger jargon for basically a photo taken directly from above like a bird's eye view but on a smaller scale. I don't want to toot my own horn but I do have a knack for the flatlay which has developed over my 4+ years of blogging and creating content for Instagram and my blog. I've recently been playing around with a LuMee Light Up iPhone Case* that not only make your selfies look amazing, but also helps to give you some light to your photos even if the weather is dark and dreary.

I posted on my Instagram stories a couple of weeks ago about my revamped Media Kit that I had been meaning to update for ages and I also asked the question of 'Do you have a media kit?' The majority of the response was 'no, but I need one' and I have received a bunch of private messages and emails asking for advice on how to make one, what should be included and also the fundamental question 'what even is a media kit!?' So I thought I would write a post and share my tips for making a media kit, including an example of what I have currently. I am by no means an expert blogger when it comes to media kits and I am learning along the way too, but these are all things I have learnt or picked up along the way.
